Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Saw the Troll Lords chiming in too about the statement: Seems like another point for Gygax by people who actually knew him...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Looks interesting, and I will get around to listening to it when I can, but maybe type out a few examples of Gary's misogyny? For example, from Designers and Dragons: An example of Gary clearly being more progressive than his peers. Why couldn't this story be in the forward instead of the...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

Probably right. Just have been reading so many "glass half-full" takes on early D&D lately. On a positive note though, thought this was a cool read:

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

And I'm just here pointing out evidence to the contrary. You know, to add to the conversation. Kelsey's shared experience of feelings of camaraderie with Gygax and team (that led to her becoming a full-time game desinger) far outweigh his decisions to use "Fighting-Man" and gender the dragon...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I'm certainly inclined to take the word of those closest to him then those taking snippets and stitching together they're own narrative. I know he had a habit of sarcastically doubling down on controversial topics that gets taken out of context all the time, but when it comes to those that have...

You guys are only going to encourage Musk to buy ENWorld. 😅

Glad to hear it. Just purchased it myself and looking forward to reading through it.

Not sure if it's been posted, but I think Kuntz's response to the forward is worth sharing too.

In case anyone was interested what was actually written in the book, like me, I found this:

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

What is that? Absolutely! One of the benefits of OSR games being 95% compatible with each other. Another perfect "AD&D like". Art, rules, presentation, adventures... all 10/10. You should grab the Player's PDF ($12) and take a look, I think you'd dig it. If anything, you could steal the extra...

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

Wow, this one gives me 3E nostalgia for sure.

    Cookin again

That's really neat! I once spent an entire weekend making "real" ramen ingredients. Although I was proud of the results (and the achievement of actually doing it), it was soooooo much work. I now "cheat" to get me mostly there by: Using normal pasta + baking soda to make the ramen noodles...

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

Very much agree. Seen too many comments from others that assume these rules are "unplayable", but my group had a great time with it till we split apart. Have all those systems as well. I've decided which one I use just depends on what system the module I'm running uses; gives me a nice excuse...

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

Okay, was attempting to offer a way off your hill there, but looks like your intent on dying on it... :sneaky: Alone... As for this, from I.C.E.'s Wiki page: "Arms Law was the first release including the house rules from the University of Virginia days, which began Rolemaster as an...

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

I understand it's different from 5E, but none of these comparisons make sense when compared to AD&D, the game we're saying it's related to. If I described Hackmaster as fresh take of AD&D with aspects of Rolemaster rolled in (isn't that how Rolemaster started anyways?), how would you disagree...

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

@Jd Smith1 Yeah, we know. But to say Hackmaster "has nothing to do with D&D" when it's entire foundation is based off D&D is an odd thing to say. "Crunchy spiritual successor to D&D" would be a better descriptor I think.

    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

For me, its been the last couple printings that have disappointed. This last one, C&C Reforged, was kind of just the last straw. Not because it's so incredibly different, but because every change that was made made the game worse than previous editions. Compounded with multiple disappointing...
