D&D General D&D is now Steampunk (poll)

It's always been an amalgamation. A pick and choose, a cornucopia! In other words, those who claim its set in a specific "setting" have only been correct for the game in which they played. Each edition may (like you say) have had a flavor, but even that flavor was a mixture of ideas and cool...

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

For context, research how fireballs expanded in AD&D, and Lightning Bolts bounced.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

I separate the concept of warlocks away from the paladins and clerics. Clerics and Paladins: ongoing flow of power (to an extent) Warlocks: trades, no take backs. This give the warlock more of the "gaining knowledge and eldritch secrets" vibe that I like them to have. And in this situation...

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

Agreed 100%. I always looked at Tucker's Kobolds as utilizing what they had cleverly. I will have to re read the story in case i missed unfair advantages such as you point out.

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

I have no idea. My question was kinda asked because while a "Tucker" approach could definitely be an adversarial thing on the DM's part (not so good), it could also be an efficient approach (good) from creatures. i.e. what would the difference look like in the result instead of the motive, or...

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

How would you represent the difference between smart kobolds in large numbers and antagonistic DMing?

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

Tucker's kobolds worked well for me. Noob 5e players...infested kobold tunnels leading towards deeper dungeons. They hated those kobolds. Game successful!

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

Law versus Chaos as cosmic forces. Good and Evil a mix between forces and materials Time Bandits - Evil Alignment chart as descriptors of your view of your character and intended play, not prescripts. Discussions (not arguments) between DM and Player is there is a discrepancy in play.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

They started (and the main reason I supported them) by raising funds for kids to read in LA. Nobody was paying them. That all started when they got popular, most proximately, D&D Beyond, which wasnt WotC at the time. Is there money involved now? Of course. Good for them. Wish I could have...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Overall, I understand and agree 99.99 percent with your post. Well said. On the other hand, what I quoted above is what all the bad guys say to justify themselves. Hehe. You don't preserve to personally benefit, you preserve because its the right thing to do. But like you say, that's a...

Level Up (A5E) acolyte squad casting sleep

"I think" they were suggesting adding the average hp affected by sleep (20 ish) by the number of acolytes in the squad (5?) to get a combined hp total for sleep of 100. Still not how it works, but interesting.
