The Journey To...North America, Part Two

I respect you taking the time to share your goals. I think your response, IMO, is stronger than the article in conveying that goal. The article, from my perspective, chastises the use of different cultures without experience or research. Often, as a DM, I will ad lib an NPC or go off on a...

The Journey To...North America, Part Two

Thank you. I've run games where players in the autism spectrum, victims of abuse, and those who are bipolar where able to boost and refine their voices. RPGs are the perfect vehicle to move past our own torments and frailties and to escape the imperfections of our real lives for a few hours...

The Journey To...North America, Part Two

Or you could study your market and then gauge how many sales you are truly losing vs the virtue signaling. Yes, there are people who feel that you can't write about a culture unless you are a part of that culture. And then there are other people who don't feel that way. It comes down to which...

The Journey To...North America, Part Two

Generally, when I run a game I don't treat the germanic, irish, scottish, welsh, french, russian, or meso-american cultures sacredly. It's a game, a fictional world where me and my group want to create a world and generally, mash up settings and era. We mean not disrespect, we're just rolling...

Still No Elves In Talislanta: The Savage Land

I think it would be helpful to include who is publishing this product.

Travel Through The Mists Of Akuma And Into New Worlds For D&D 5E

Wasn't it just last week that ENWorld ran an article showing concern for Oriental Adventures in this day and age? I'll add my voice to the quality of this product.

    Pathfinder 2's Proficiency System Explored

Perhaps the Skill Unlocks will be mechanically potent, but with what little info we have, a difference of at most 5 point appears to downplay Proficiency and elevate Level. That's just not my groove anymore.

    Pathfinder 2's Proficiency System Explored

So this is similar to bounded accuracy (wether intended or not). What I don't like about PF2's take is could have just been +0, +2, +3, +4, +5. By leaving in Level, PF2 just makes the math handle larger numbers. So far, PF2 doesn't seem to be for me and that's cool. I hope others enjoy it.

Pathfinder 2E's New Death & Dying Rules; More on Resonance

Add in that many of these designers know each other and might be friends. I think some of us would just like them to be honest and say that "we looked at the latest d20 tech (which is a good thing) and adapted what we thought would work". IMO, PF2 sound quite a bit like DnD 4 and 5. It would be...

Pathfinder 2: Crits, Skills, Scaling, & Proficiencies!

I agree. It's obvious the designer hasn't read much of 5E, since he doesn't realize that Proficiency is Proficiency. It's either your Ability Mod + Pro or Ability Mod. What concerns me about that is I think a designer should be aware of the latest innovations of the D20 system. Wether from...

From 7 Action Types To Pathfinder 2's New 3 Action Economy

Which brings back headaches of a martial resource that is dubious at best. I applaud the notion of a single bonus economy, but bounded accuracy simply removes the illusion of all of these scaling numbers. I hope they address that.

    Pathfinder 2E Ditching sacred cows

If Erik Mona starts saying this, it's going to trigger more comparisons to DnD 4E.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Indeed. While all of those things are draws for me to DnD, those things with the complexity I'm used to in Pathfinder's heritage is not. I guess I'll download it and take a look. I'm surprised that we are not seeing them convert an older AP to 5E, just to test the waters.

    When Fantasy Meets Africa

Are only Africans allowed to write about Africa? Are only Swedes allowed to write about Sweden? It seems that creating fantasy is running the risk of being smashed between two noble concerns. As a publisher, I have to be aware of how my product is received, but as a DM at my table, if I love...

Who You Gonna Call? Looking At West End Games' Ghostbusters RPG

I was always curious how it was a Chaosium designed yet WEG published game, an insights into that?

Paizo New Roundup With Extra Ultimate Wilderness

I'll chime in to say that the article mentioned above had a title that bordered on click bait. The Con organizer in fact did have a response, though it might not have been to everyone's tastes. I will be the third voice asking if this article was paid advertising? Will we get an answer?
