hmm, you make some good points there. i think next time i run a game i might aply a N+1/2 level on a non hit, and just N? for a hit resistance, but only on certain minions... i like the idea that some minions would be slightly harder to kill than others, leaving some to be killed by off-hits...

theres a feat like this (kind of), "Traveler's Insight" (Dragon Magazine #385) "You gain a feat bonus to insight checks equal to the number of languages you know." this can give insightful characters intensive to have 13 int (for linguist feat) i agree that knowledge checks can be very useful...

yeah, im usualy of the philosiphy of pimp-not-gimp, but im just starting to think, if these feats are just taken by everyone, and thus just rasing the bar, i dont really see the point in them being there in the first place.

maybe the way to go would be to go the other way, to remove such feats, or maybe just strongly encourage against them, saving them more for letting chars with lower main scores etc. catch up than them setting a base. or maybe encourage PC's to only pick feats from the list associated with there...

i just quickmade a level5 dragonborn on the offline CB, without inherent bonuses dragonbreath was +9, with it was +10, so without quoting books or anything to back this up, id say yes.

according to the offline CB you get either far hand (telekinesis focus) or send thoughts (telepathy focus) and then you can spend your hybrid talent feat on expanded discipline focus, which gives you the other power. thank you about the weapon/implement proficiency thing, that was bugging me.

i think this would make wizards/artificers etc. overshadow bards in the skills department, skills and multiclassing is a large part of what makes bards and i think it would be a shame to upstage them like that.

id like to point out that (if min-maxing) any leader job other than shaman's first two feats will probably be "spitit talker" and "mending spirit", just because then they get another per encounter heal, rasing them to 3 at level 2 (level 1 if human), and 4 at level 16. ive also been thinking...

i think the type of feats you choose is more influenced by the type of DM/group you have, if you have alot of skillchalenges, then your more likely to take skill feats, if you rollplay more, youll take feats like group mindlink/linguist more. it all depends on how ou play the game. not every...

for a nice bit of fluff, i would use a real chessboard for this encounter, and have the minions be animated chess pieces. dont know, might seam lame, depends on your group.
