I'm interested in knowing how they arrived at the staggering amount of $10 000 000 plus. To me that's insane amounts of money to make off writing books for any fantasy IP that you license from another party. Ten million dollars. Hard to believe. /M

Does it matter? The minis are there for those who want them, and there are people who want them, is my view of this. How many? I'm not losing sleep over that, like I'm not losing sleep over how many are in the market for a set of Blood Angels Terminator Assault Squad marines from Games Workshop...

Interesting, I believe this is a change from how it has worked traditionally, where the core rules were the money makers and the other stuff drove the sales of the rules. At least it was one of the cornerstones of the strategy for the launch of 3e. Any idea on how and why this has changed...

If I was a small publisher that had my sales almost doubled from receiving an award, I'd be happy as a clam! :)

I think it is because it is a lose/lose situation for them. If they win they get flack for crowding out the smaller publishers, and the awards get flack for awarding market reach over quality. If they lose, they get flack for publishing bad products that can be beaten by small indie publishers...

If we set the bar at ”most people aware of product” only D&D would win anything. Which is a totally different flaw in an awards process.
