    WAR OF THE WORLDS Trailer

I'm getting Neil Breen vibes from this. At least from the first 40 seconds.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I don't know about that, though. In this thread I've learned that everything can be explained by pixies. All the way down, it's all pixies. Raining? Pixies pis ... crying. Wind? Pixies flapping their wings. Snow ... pixie dust, in all probability. So no bakgrund assumptions, just pixies! So...

I agree. This poll asked about the DM excluding things. https://www.enworld.org/threads/dm-imposed-restrictions-to-the-game.701956/ Around 90 % of the respondents said it was ok to exklude things. What they thought was ok varied, but it still seems to me many DMs chose what to use and not.

Your take on "the traditional GM" is perplexing. I find it hard to believe that anyone who has Identified as a traditional GM in this thread is nodding their head in approval of that characterization. I can't remember any post of these over 18 000 posts where a traditional GM proclaims that...

If you want to play a tiefling, and will not budge on that, and the DM says "no tieflings" and won't budge on that, what does your group do? Cancel the game for everyone because you can't play a tieflling or have the DM run a game for the rest of the players who are okay not playing a tiefling...

That's not what I'm taking from their posts. They tell us what they like, what they do, how they play, and not how everyone else must play. At least that's how I read it. And whatever anyone here says, regardless of how I read it, no DM have to do what they say.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Why put everything to such extremes? The DM doesn't have to know everything, she just has to know if tieflings are part of her campaign or not. And if she is willing to add them or not, if asked. It's a difficult enough task to be a DM that I don't see the benefit of placing an unneccessary...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

As a player I want to experience my DMs vision of the game. Not my vision of the game, I want something else, something different from what I do when I DM. So it follows for me to give the DM authority of the game she is running, because I think that is the most interesting to me. And I still...

You're not alone. I never clicked with Apocalypse World, and have huge difficulties using other PbtA systems. I'm too set in my ways to change now, I fear. :) But I find it interesting to read about how other people use different systems in a positive way. I might take some things with me to my...

No one knows. Or at least, it seems to me that there are several things being discussed at the same time. For a while it was the conservatism of D&D players, then a lot of talk about fail forward in all its forms, now it seems to be talking about whether a player can be forced to take actions...

    Winning and losing in RPGs...

My approach is that I win if I and the group I play with have fun playing. I lose if we don't have fun. That might be a "cute" answer, but for me it all boils down to that. And then the question is "what is fun?" and that can fuel another 15 000 post thread, I fear. :D But I think that it is...

    Cool Comics by Enworld Standards...

Stand Still, Stay Silent by Minna Sundberg is a post-apocalyptic web comic (also available in print). She describes it as: "Stand Still. Stay Silent is a post apocalyptic webcomic with elements from Nordic mythology, set 90 years in the future. It's a story about friendship and exploring a...

And thank you for all the shout outs, fellow Dragonbane fans! Troll's Spire is a nice little adventure, with potential for improvements, but it seems that it works as an introduction to the game, mostly for its compact design and some memorable NPCs. It's no Keep on the Borderlands, but then...

Nope. But you could e-mail Free League and ask for it to be released as a PDF, maybe. They have been known to listen to fan suggestions from time to time, and if, say ... 10 people would send an e-mail, I think they would at least consider it. Or at least mail me and ask "why the hello are...

    Dragonbane Announces Two New Books

Well, we Swedes grew up with a BRP game (Drakar och Demoner, now known as Dragonbane) being as dominant in Sweden as D&D in the States, so for many of us, roll high for conflict resolution is not the preferred, or even intuitive, way of doing it. :D We learned differently, I guess! :)

There are a few, but not near matching e.g. Mork Borg. Tales of the Old West was released recently and Temples & Tombs a few years ago.
