    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

I'm not really sure how the impression of me wanting to desperately talk to WotC took hold in this thread. To go back to my initial point, the OP got some pushback about posting his opinions on D&D, and I think EN World is a great place to post opinions on D&D, be they adressed at WotC or not. /M

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

Because it would establish the value of a digital version of the PH at 1 dollar. And that could be very bad in the long term for WotC. But I realise that having Curse being the "seller" of the digital content makes it easier for WotC to say no to the wishes for free or discounted PDF versions...

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

I hate talking on the phone, so I might try the bottle thing. Or I might find it more comfortable voicing my opinion amongst a gathering of like minded, and maybe if enough people would think like me, I would add to their voices. /M

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

So how would WotC safeguard against Curse dumping the price to 1 dollar for the PH, for example? EDIT: Well, except for Curse going bankrupt. /M

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

Just a small detail ... the above, I am not so sure of. I think WotC could very well decide on a minimum price, so as not to devalue their books, and draw too much sales from them. And then Curse would work with that minimum price to see if they can make their business work or if they would...

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

Nah, I don't think we have to delve into the economics, but it sure is interesting. For what it's worth, I believe that the only feedback on the cost of DnD Beyond that are likely to convince WotC and Curse to lower prices is how much money they make. Irregardless of how they price the service...

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

I haven't gone into economics at all. All I am saying is that dismissing feedback to WotC by saying "talk to the developers of DND Beyond" is, in my opinion, missing the mark. /M

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

I am aware of that fact. I am also aware of the fact that this has been the largest D&D fan site for many years, and that members from WotC frequent these boards, and often read fans opinions on how they relate to the game. In my opinion it is not too much of a stretch to post feedback here...

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

Ok, then let's "internet" a little bit more. :) This is most certainly an offering from WotC. It is offered via an intermediary, but it is WotC offering it. Without WotC, this would not exist. And they most certainly haven't taken their hands off the ball just because they licensed the...

    D&D 5E (2014) What D&D Beyond should have been.

Hey, gang. Can't we agree that giving WotC feedback on their current offering is a good thing to do? And not belittle those who choose to do so in a simple, rather non-offensive post? Sometimes people just need to vent. Cheers! /M

[UPDATED - With Cubicle 7] Games Workshop Concluding Deal For Licensing Rights To Warhammer Fantasy

I'd be very surprised, and somewhat disappointed, if it turned out to be Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplay. Why I think they will go with The Old World and v2 as the basis: 1. Cuts out developing time. Quicker launch possible. 2. Nostalgia is popular. There few more nostalgic than WFRP fans. 3...

D&D 5E (2014) After 2 years the 5E PHB remains one of the best selling books on Amazon

If it hade been available in Swedish in 1982, when the rpg scene exploded in Sweden, it would be higher. But in Sweden, another game took the dominant position, and even though D&D later was translated it never stood a chance. Maybe a bit higher, but swedes seen to prefer games produced in...

Who's Playing What on Fantasy Grounds?

A small correction. You mention the game "Iron Kingdows". I think you mean "Iron Windows", the triple glazing window sales simulationistic RPG. :-) /M

D&D 5E (2014) After 2 years the 5E PHB remains one of the best selling books on Amazon

Sooooo ... I hear that D&D 5 is doing well on Amazon. I conducted a poll at a Swedish rpg forum, asking what people have played over the year. With 103 responses, D&D was at 16%, Pathfinder at 9%. Mutant Year Zero (a Swedish game) was at 25%, a Swedish fantasy rpg called Eon at 20%, Symbaroum...

    Harassment in gaming

I feel that the post linked in the thread start is important. To me it is important to read accounts like this, regardless of tone. Because I am not the target of the described behaviour, I need other people to explain to me what it looks like, what it feels like and what the consequences are...
