My DM just told me he fudges rolls....

How did you feel when you found out about Santa?? :D I think you should just ignore the comment. Don't think about it. Don't talk about it. Fudging is like Fight Club.

Legends and Lore 11/22/2011 - A Different Way to Slice the Pie

I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I'm getting a BECM/I vibe and I like that. I do think DnD needs to get back to a simpler game with optional add-ons. I should nail my colours to the mast; dnd>adnd...

Legends and Lore: Out of Bounds

I'd add that it does not always have to be obvious that these abilities will overcome a challenge or even that those abilities be in the current party at the time (maybe they can procure a ritual to overcome a challenge). One thing that should be in the module is information about the nature...

Should Power Source have greater meaning?

Oh yes.... yesyesyes. Choosing your class should give you access to power sources and the powers contained therein; fighter gets access to martial PS, paladin gets access to martial, divine PS. Multiclassing gains your a class talent and access to the class power source. The power sources...

    Red Box discontinued......Smart Move?

Glad to see my experience isn't that far off the norm. Dwarves are probably my own personal favourite race.

    Red Box discontinued......Smart Move?

Non human race should be: - Elf - Dwarf - Halfling - Dragonborn That's a nice mix. And can we fatten up the halflings please? The poor little chaps have been on a diet for two editions now. Dwarves are the most popular race after halfings in my own experience.

    CB and MB on Ubuntu?

Well the end is in sight anyway. WotC will have to move from silverlight at some stage in the future. WotC please please choose something that works across all OSs, even if you dont "support" it on linux.

    Dilemna: Should I Quit RPGs?

The problem here is not the RPGs, it is he avoidance. It is your lack of self discipline, and, luckily, this is something you can train yourself with. Start small. Work for an hour and give yourself a reward, make sure it is something you enjoy and something that takes no more than about 15 minutes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook working on 5E?

Consider what's been happening lately I'd be sceptical of rumours stating he is NOT working on 5e. Really it's a given that he is working on 5e.

Review of Mordenkainen’s Magnificent Emporium by WotC

Enjoyed the review. I thought your score very fair BTW, the breakdown makes it clear.

Monte Cooks First Legends and Lore

I read the article and was aware of what you quoted, but I think you missed my point (and I believe some of this was LostSouls point). Take something that like an "Expert" secret door. Characters with an Expert level in perception will auto discover the door. The Prod/Poker does not get his...

Monte Cooks First Legends and Lore

This is one of my problems with the system. We have two players here; one likes to poke and prod the environment and gets enjoyment from that, and the other optimises his character to have a high (passive) perception to gain an in game advantage. I'd prefer if the first player could also...

Monte Cooks First Legends and Lore

The column seems like a rehash of some of the stuff Mearls and his good self talked about, and Mearls wrote about. I dislike passive perception mainly because I, or an adventure writer, is setting a DC for a trap or secret door and I know what the passive perception of the PCs are and whether...

    I'ma moooonster! BUILDER!

Some things I'd like: - npc/companion builder, we should be able to pick from all the pc powers and use class templates. - monster themes and templates should also be available. I'm running a sw saga game right now, so I'm not subbed right now, but I'll be running a 4e savage tide conversion...

Compiled info in the default setting?

Ohh the world default 4e world is called Selduria. Didn't know that. Just release the compiled Gazzetter WotC. You've been pimping this place for years now.

Compiled info in the default setting?

I like the wiki. I like how vague the whole thing is like: Just enough to spark you imagination and not tie it down. Easily parsable by humans without photogenic memories ;). And nice suggested locations for iconic DND adventure sites.

    Monte Cook back at wizards

Ha.. I called it.. I knew after Mearls mentioned him in those articles. Even though 3e is not my cup of tea. I'm kinda of happy that he is back. I see it as a nice balance with Mearls et al. I'm interested in seeing where this goes now.
