    Pushing the 4th edition envelope

I like the ideas here. I love a lot of 4e, but I never ran a good campign in it. For a variety of reasons it fell apart and wasn't fun. If I was to do it again I would run maybe a Nether<sp?> Vale sandbox. I'd maybe remove feats. I'd want to remove some of the fiddlyness of character creation...

    D&D 4E Reply if you love 4e

There is a lot of love in 4e, it is one of my favourite versions of DND. I love the fluff/default setting, streamlined core, DM tools. Monster/NPC stat blocks, simplified math. I'm frustrated that it didn't have more out of the box support for mapless combat, my preferred playstyle. And the...

D&D 5E (2014) Q&A: Mage Cantrips, Multiclass req., and the Psion

I think ENWorld's base tends toward DMs more-so than not. If you have a survey that includes more players who don't DM you'd find a greater percentage won't like the requirements them. Even if there wasn't a majority I still think it should be an optional sidebar as a substantial minority will...

D&D 5E (2014) Q&A: Mage Cantrips, Multiclass req., and the Psion

Make the ability score requirements as a little optional sidebar. As most people will ignore them anyway. Unlimited cantrip: I like the idea of a 1st level wizard obsessed with minor magics and wanders around collecting them, kinda like Pokemon.

Murder in Baldur's Gate Launch Event Adventure

I expected this to be an epic tier adventure. The levels of the two Baalspawn don't fit their description.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bard as a subclass

+1 Bard as class My only reasoning for this is because the Complete Bard's Handbook was all sorts of awesome. Some of my favourites that might make good subclasses: Blade Gypsy-bard Herald Jester Skald

    D&D 5E (2014) Druids and shape changing – I don't like it!!

I'm struggling to find the problem. The shapes might need tweaking to make them a little more flexible. The do seem a little under-powered, but the main thrust of the idea is solid. What we really really don't want is the return of CODzilla in any form. Although - as mentioned up thread - it...

Playtesting my new game TimeWatch -- want in?

Wow, sounds amazing. My group has played Trail of Cthulhu and loved it. The Gumshoe rules sounds like it would work really well with the concept. I'd sign us up but our games have been a bit spotty recently. I'll be keeping my eye on it though.

Melee and Ranged Combat Rules Changes in SAGA Edition

I've been GMing DOD for the past two years or so, on and off, and we have a Jedi Lightsaberer int he group. I've never noticed her character having problems, but she did need to take a few ranged force powers early on for those times it's not a good idea to close the gap. Now I might be a bit...

D&D 5E (2014) Strip Background out of subclass

They would need to be built with that in mind. I can see a space for both restricted and sharable sub-classes. However, they should probably just use talent tree similar to SW Saga. The class gives you access to a certain amount of talent trees and it is easy for multiple classes to gain...

D&D 5E (2014) Strip Background out of subclass

Perhaps some of the sub-classes should be available to more than one class, and not with a feat tax.

    D&D 5E (2014) Old settings coming back?

Dark Sun sold out as far as I know. It became very hard to find very soon after release. There may have been other factors at play not just sales of Dark Sun.

    D&D 5E (2014) Old settings coming back?

Maybe they will do a new setting contest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Old settings coming back?

So the list would be: Forgotten Realms Dragonlance Eberron Maybe Greyhawk Dark Sun or Ravenloft Maybe Greyhawk will be given a bullet becuase it doesn't have a strong hook.

    Bruce Cordell leaves WotC

It's good to see churn in the RPG industry.

D&D 5E (2014) D&DN going down the wrong path for everyone.

Maybe they need to brand DND next DND and keep supporting 4e as ADND. If they release DNDN modules that are 4e compatible (not sure if that is possible with he next flattened maths).

Trail of Cthulhu - my first experiences

By minimum I assume you mean 1 point? Maybe increasing it by 1 point per round if unsuccessful. Seems like a workable solution. I might be having this problem because point spends are so abstract. I'd consider General spends as applications of effort and, sure, during combat or chases I'd...

Proof D&D is in serious decline

WotC really needs to get themselves into kids culture again. Bring back a DnD cartoon. It's how I found out about the game.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mud Sorcerer's Tomb - Crappy adventure? Or CrappiEST adventure?

I was excited to see this adventure included in the packet as it was always on my "list of adventures to run". It's also gotten a lot of praise over the years, so I'd be interested in hearing more impressions.

Trail of Cthulhu - my first experiences

A little bit of necromancy :) I've run a few sessions using TOC and found it excellent. Some of the best gaming I've ever ran. Lots of good feedback from my gamers. But I'm having a small issue with General point spends. When I'm running creatures or enemies they seem to have a decent amount...
