    D&D 5E (2014) Bring Back Gnomes!

Aren't Gnomes confirmed to be in? Every PHB 1 race from every edition is in, I thought I read. So that would be: humans elf dwarf halfling gnome half-orc half-elf dragonborn thefling Any missing?

New Saga Edition GM: What problems should I be aware of?

There are a few math problems in SWSE, mostly skill checks vs defense (UTF usually). However the game is fairly flexible and really on depends on your players, if they go for more RP rather than optimised builds you'll probably have an easier time. I don't think there are many inherent problems...

    D&D 5E (2014) Too many knowledge skills.

I think I wish they - those valiant devs - has the cojones to try something like this, but I suspect that the simulationist crowd would have a fit. I've recently ran a Trail of Cthulhu scenario and the feedback I've gotten has been great, my players love the point spend system and how the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Too many knowledge skills.

It might be cool to have a point spend system similar to the Gumshoe system. Have a split similar to GUMSHOE's General/Investigation split. So we would different rules for exploration skills and knowledge skills. Maybe knowledge skills could have a point spend to get information. I'd prefer an...

I played a crappy character...and it was great!

For the DND next playtest I got the players to roll 3d6 in order and they all got 3-5 in Charmisa. We now have a very social dysfunctional group. They are loving it, some great RP hooks too.

Are we looking at an RPG Renassiance (moved to Tabletop Gaming)

The only way to break out of the niche is to fund a DND cartoon again. Show some kids playing the red box at the start and get sucked into the fantasy realm. Play that on Nick or CN for a few years and you'll get new players and groups; fresh blood. DND needs a kick start that can keep it going...

How to consolidate a 4e and a Pathfinder game?

You should probably run both; using the two time periods to delineate the ruleset. Alternate between the two campaigns periodically, and try to intertwine the campaigns arcs somehow. It would be challenging, but awesome if you can pull it off.

The Stapled Parrot and Other Revered Genre Tropes for Thug Rogues

The disadvantage goes against all checks (I assume saving throws too?). So not cool.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Blingdenstone original to 5E?

The Map is from Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark and it has a write-up on the city too.

Tweaks I'd like to see for Specialties

There is no good justification for armour interfering with spell casting. They need to get rid of that restriction and build it into the proficiencies or ability requirements.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the arbitrary "boss monster" tag?

In my view the monster templates (minion, solo, etc) added another axis to monsters. It gave them a depth that added realism. With level being the relative power of the creature the template gave the toughness/uniqueness of the creature. When using them I can ask "why this creature is a...

    Wizards hate warlocks

No problem with wizards, in general, being taught to hate/fear warlocks. It makes sense and is a nice source of conflict. And the sorcerer is the first one, in any edition, that I don't hate fluff-wise. So thumbs up., One problem I do have with the packet is the bounty hunter background. I think...

Future of D&D Keynote Speech [UPDATE - with video!]

I've very glad to hear they are doing the electronic release of the old material properly. It is good for the future of DND. It also means that they might be able to do physical reprints of popular downloads. Even with an update booklet. Makes me very pleased. Hopefully the price is reasonable...

Future of D&D Keynote Speech [UPDATE - with video!]

Yeah I usually just let it buffer, but it wouldn't do any buffering. Don't know why. Finally just downloaded the whole thing via this link: http://media30.justin.tv/archives/2012-8-16/live_user_wotc_dnd_1345159039.flv

D&D 5E (2014) With Respect to the Door and Expectations....The REAL Reason 5e Can't Unite the Base

I do. My group does. We parked the 3.0 stuff and moved to 3.5 wholesale. We didn't have the same problems with 4e/essentials, we mixed happily. YMMV. If you could run content mixed from 3.0/3/5 on the fly more power to ya,but I found it a hassle and just moved over. I didn't have this problem...

D&D 5E (2014) With Respect to the Door and Expectations....The REAL Reason 5e Can't Unite the Base

3.5 was far more then the inclusion of errata and additional classes. You can pick up pre-essential books and post essential books and use the content interchangeably. Trying that with 3.0 and 3.5 involved some conversion/adaptation. Skill name changes, totally revised classes. You can...

Monte Cook's new RPG: Numenera [UPDATED]

Ahh so the new civilisation aren't human. At least that's believable. Having evolution reset nine times is a cool idea. Although the website has humans on it. mmm. Probably better to scrap the billion. It's silly if they want to include human like species in it.
