    D&D 5E (2014) D&D meets the Walking Dead

During the 4e era, Dungeon Magazine published two adventures that use the zombie apocalypse tropes to great effect. Chaos Scar: Dead By Dawn: PCs must barricade themselves inside an abandoned church and fend off an overwhelming horde of zombies...

D&D 5E (2014) Kung Fu Panda: How do wildshape and monk class abilities interact?

And yet, I'd still go with the first line, superceding the later one. Unarmored Defense doesn't say you add your Wis to AC, it says your AC is 10 + your Dex + your Wis modifier. Wild Shape replaces your AC with the beast AC. One ruling would mean having to recalculate every beast AC, taking into...

D&D 5E (2014) Kung Fu Panda: How do wildshape and monk class abilities interact?

To keep things simple, I'd go with the first line of Wild Shape: "Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the beast". So AC (a game statistic) is simply replaced.

    D&D 5E (2014) Silly/Senseless Rules You Have Found

    1. Not true. A paralyzed creature grants advantage on all attacks against it, and any hit becomes a critical hit. That's far more taxing than not adding a Dex modifier. Also note that heavy armor also precludes you from adding a *negative* Dex modifier. 2. Nothing precludes you from wielding a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward cantrip

Yeah, halving damage also reduces the chance of dropping to 0hp and rollover damage hitting your instant death threshold.

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward cantrip

It's a good cantrip for Valorous bards and Eldritch Knights (and multiclass characters with levels in these). A creature reduced to 0 speed (such as a restrained one) is incapable of Dodging, so a wizard caught in a net, an entangle spell, or web spell would be thankful to have this cantrip to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Solo play class? I LOVE 5E!!!

The "best" solo class really depends on the preferred playstyle. If the solo player likes to charge into foes and feel confident on his ability to withstand damage, I'd say Fighter (Second Wind takes care of the self-healing). If the player prefers a stealthy approach, Rogue, Monk, or Trickery...

    D&D 5E (2014) Preview: Manticore

There was another 4e Manticore illo in the Monster Vault, by Steve Prescott, which was quite awesome.

D&D 5E (2014) Good art and Really bad art in the 5e PHB

There's a sun elf woman casting Insect Plague.

    D&D 5E (2014) I'll make my own Fifth Edition.

HA! I wish! For starters, I wouldn't have to buy my own beer and tequila during GenCon, it'd be all "business expenses"! ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Mounted Combat Question

5e seems to be less about the RAW and more about the RAI. Reading the section on Mounted Combat, it seems to me that you usually only give up the "movement" part of your turn, which allows your mount to take one of the three D actions (Dash, Dodge, Disengage). If you're willing to give up your...

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apolcalypse/Adventurer's Handbook by Sasquatch Game Studios

Although there was no adventure, Eberron did provide stats for the Lord of Blades, King Kaius and one of the Daelkyr (IIRC Mordain the Fleshweaver).

    D&D 5E (2014) Love the Halfling art

I'm neutral (at best) about the new halflings, but I really dislike the new gnomes.

    D&D 5E (2014) Any interest in the not-quite-so-wild mage?

It'd be pretty neat, and a less "wahoo!" table could lead to wild surges happening more often. One of the easiest ways to add a touch of chaos to the wild mage is to allow for random damage types, including bludgeoning, slashing and piercing. For instance, a wild surge fireball could conjure an...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tiny flavor tweaks

    From my someday-I'll-get-off-my-ass-and-publish-this setting: - Half-elves and half-orcs are subraces of human; - Gnomes are the largest of the brownie family of fey (pixie, grig, brownies, quicklings, spriggans);

D&D 5E (2014) PHB Spells: Crown of Madness?

Warlock spell (all arcane powers were called "spells").

    D&D 5E (2014) Weapon oddities

My one change to these would be to make the halberd's damage "piercing or slashing", since the halberd evolved to be a versatile weapon. The glaive, otoh, is basically a reach sword (see naginata).

D&D Fans Rejoice:! WotC Releases the 5th Edition Player’s Handbook! (Part 2: Adventuring & Magic)

Great review, Neuroglyph ! But you seem to have cut out Appendix E ("Inspirational Reading"), the first of its kind in a core book since "Appendix N" of the 1e DMG.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Cosmology

There was the Dark pact warlock (his spells were more powerful if he damaged allies with them) and the Binder (in Heroes of the Shadowfell).
