Yeah WotC doesn't seem to have that habit. I don't know that anyone else really "steals their business" to make that a useful strategy.

They bought some game developer shops, I presume to work on Sigil, but we see how that turned out.

You cannot buy what isn't for sale, for one thing. For another, they are probably aware that CR not being a WotC property is probably a part of its appeal. As soon as it was bought, it would be "sellout WotC pablum", and not worth anything.
