Creating an artifact that scales in ability with character level

Is it possible? Certainly. As far as I'm aware, however, there are no real guidelines for doing so.

D&D 5E (2014) Hang Time - What if you jump farther than your speed?

I'm not. In fact, I've played (and run) chase sequences during combat quite often. Where I'm from, this usually ends up being resolved within the next round via focused fire on the escaping enemy, so chases during combat generally don't last long enough to run into any odd rule interaction...

D&D 5E (2014) Hang Time - What if you jump farther than your speed?

Why are you applying the rigid combat framework to a chase scene?

A level 20 Wizard of each school vs each other in combat

As far as I'm concerned: Abjuration Scholar - Arcane Ward makes enough mention of magic that I feel it should be shut down by Antimagic Field (AMF). At least it's guaranteed to function as intended as long as the Abjurationist keeps their distance. Everything else is irrelevant. Bladesinger -...

A level 20 Wizard of each school vs each other in combat

Were I a betting man, I'd put my money with the Bladesinger. As the most martial and least magic dependent of the wizard subclasses, it should have a decisive advantage over the others should they choose to cast antimagic field on themselves as their concentration spell prior to initiative. "No...

D&D 5E (2014) Hang Time - What if you jump farther than your speed?

As someone who's actually built a character around the concept of jumping good, option 1's perfectly fine. Sure, I get a little sad sometimes when I realize that (barring some friendly spell caster casting haste on me) I'll never actually make a theoretical max long jump (for the character in...

    Core+1

Not anyone else but myself, but here's an example with specificity: Technically speaking, I can play a tiefling (because they're in the phb) and be anything I want. However, I can't play a tiefling with a variant appearance and do the same, because wanting to have a forked tongue or tail locks...

AL rules for MTOF (or TOF as they call it) are out

You can't justify that which is unjustifiable.

D&D 5E (2014) Has anyone played a Paladin of Redemption? How was it?

Haven't played one yet, but I'd imagine a 'proper' Redemption Paladin would play in combat similar to how I played my life cleric: Prioritized helping people being attacked/harmed over nearly everything else Attempts to get hostile targets to stop being hostile through communication and...

    Booting a player Question

Why not Ugg boots? Also, why boot a player?

D&D 5E (2014) Immutable Form: The golem is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.

If immutable form was intended to make the golem immune to certain (or all) damage types, they would have put the relevant damage immunities in its stat block, not given it a trait for it.

Can Antimagic Field supress a permanent True Polymorph?

Just to note, the 6th printing of the Player's Handbook uses the lasts until it is dispelled version of True Polymorph. Why the change isn't noted in any errata I've been able to find is beyond me, though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Super Monk Jumps

Neither Step of the Wind nor Jump (which the Ring of Jumping lets you cast) mention anything about only affecting base jump distance.

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

Just wanted to note that the ability to transfer characters from one table to another is the most important part of AL, and organized play in general.

    D&D 5E (2014) ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator

Are you accepting / would you accept submissions of content from Xanathar's Guide in the same manner?

D&D 5E (2014) The Nature of the Shield Spell

Aside from the attacker rolling a natural 20, how does the DM know an attack actually hit in the first place (without having the particular player's AC on hand, that is)?

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

I've always assumed that listed stats were the average stats for anything that wasn't an named/unique creature. Stat ranges doesn't seem like a bad idea, though- even if I would prefer a more templated approach. Alternatively, all creatures are 'built' on the same chassis (i.e. 3d6 + any...

D&D 5E (2014) Does an item to enhance Unarmed Strike exist?

I believe he's referring to the bonus action attack(s) granted by martial arts and flurry, which are normally unarmed attacks, and not to the damage of monk weapons.

D&D 5E (2014) I want skills decoupled from stats. Suggestions?

While not a decoupling so to speak, couldn't you more extensively use the skills with different abilities variant (PHB 175) to solve a lot of the problems from the examples given?

D&D 5E (2014) Point Buy vs Rolling for Stats

Disallowing rolling may very well be the way you need to go in order to deal with your worries. It may be a good idea to explain your reasoning for the decision to your players first, to see their reactions.
