D&D General D&D 6e ala Steampunkette: Structural thoughts

    8) I like this idea and will begin using some version of it as a houserule immediately. 9) For ages I have heard people asking for more social interaction mechanics, and nobody has ever provided an example of what they mean. Thank you for doing so. I generally don't like the idea of social...

D&D General Why wouldn't you run a Dark Sun game?

Hear, hear! And never mind the elf-eating thri-kreen. My first D&D character ever was a thri-kreen psionicist/ranger with a STR score of like 20, and I couldn't have asked for a more gonzo or rip-roaring intro to the game. Our battles would generally begin with me rolling the halfling fighter...

D&D General Why wouldn't you run a Dark Sun game?

Dark Sun was the first D&D campaign setting I ever played in, back in 1994, and those games were just colossal and awesome. I honestly can't remember if I ever ran a DS game myself (my wheelhouse was Dragonlance and Al-Qadim and Spelljammer, with a hefty dose of homebrew weirdness), but I played...

D&D 3.x 3rd Edition Revisited - Better play with the power of hindsight?

Yeah, that's what I thought. I just throught maybe (after all these years) I had just missed it. C'est la vie.

D&D 3.x 3rd Edition Revisited - Better play with the power of hindsight?

Were you able to find "1st level multiclassing" in the 3.5 DMG? It was a sidebar in the 3.0 version but I thought it had been removed in the revision.

What are your thoughts on TTRPGs with non-standard dice?

See, if you weren't so strongly against funky dice sets, you'd have seen that in many of them the traditional caltrop d4 has been reworked to have no pointy edges anymore. It's almost COMPLETELY pointless (har!) now! Of course, I've played DCC almost exclusively for the past few years, and...

    OSR OSR logos

I don't generally use one (most of my stuff is for DCC RPG and I use those logos), but when I have I used this one. It's free, and it looks like this: You can get it at DTRPG Here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/305054/osr-for-all-logo

D&D 3.x Mike Selinker about the release of 3.0 D&D

I picked it up the day it came out, in a store whose name I don't recall in Bloomington, IN. Like many, I was enthralled at what I saw as "corrections" to 2e and my games adopted it immediately (with a handful of loud protests).

    Playing AS monsters?

The Al-Qadim City of Delights box set for AD&D 2nd Edition in 1993 explicitly talked about how species viewed as "monstrous" in other settings could fit in just fine in the setting. It mentioned Goblins, Hobgoblins, Kobolds, Lizard Men, Ogres, Half-Ogres, Orcs, and Half-Orcs, and even allowed...

Interested in checking out non-D&D fantasy "old school" ttrpgs

Talislanta advertised itself as being distinctly and deliberately different from D&D and "typical" Western fantasy, and all editions of the game except the 6th are available free on their website. Talislanta – Still No Elves!

D&D General Does anyone recall coming across any magic weapons that return when thrown...other than Dwarven Thrower, Hammer of Thunderbolts or magic boomerangs?

A Goodman Games program guide from GenCon a few years back had a DCC writeup for the Glaive from Krull, one of the single most awesomely ridiculous weapons ever put to film. Yes, its a magical mechanical returning (and steerable) throwing star thing called the Glaive. Don't ask.
