    D&D General Cleretic advice

So you have to consider what a heretic is. For example, I'm a heretic Catholic. I don't believe the Pope (and the Church in general) is infallible, for example. (there are a lot of other areas of disagreement, but let's take this one as it's not too political/sensitive). As Papal...

    D&D 5E (2014) Military food in dnd

oh, I will have to read this! Another great article on the issue - well, the issue of logistics, for which food was an important aspect: https://acoup.blog/2022/07/15/collections-logistics-how-did-they-do-it-part-i-the-problem/

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's Have A Thread of Veteran GM Advice

a very simple piece of advice: Prep what you are bad at. Improvise what you are good at. Very few of us have enough prep time. So spend it on things you can't easily do on the fly.

    D&D 5E (2014) Help Me Choose a Character

Do you have access to the Sebastian's Guide to the world of Drakkenheim? Because it has a new class they created and I'm having a ton of fun with it :) (the apothecary - I'm playing a mutagenist, Mr Butters, a goblin nerd who transforms in a 9 foot tall hulk, but you already have 2 tanks in...

    D&D General March Madness 2024 - Round 1 - Casters

lumping the artificer with the other casters is a bit... odd, but of all the half casters they are by far the most "caster-ish"

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

This has been going on for a while, in a number of fandoms. Basically, cosplaying is a "new" way to enjoy/explore D&D (as an example, there are so many others), and this attracted people who weren't the usual "basement nerds" crowd. These people (the nerds) saw themselves as social outcasts...

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

answering a riddle is hard. Coming up with a good one is even harder. I don't think I could - at least, not create a "classic" that would be remembered for a long time. buuuuut it's a lot easier to spot a riddle that makes no sense whatsoever. And the fact that they published that...

    D&D General other possible elements?

Well, if we go by "standard D&D lore", smoke is a paraelemental (quasielemental?). If you look at the mephits, they all correspond to an admixture of 2 elements. Smoke is air and fire. So it's elemental related, but it's not an "element", since by definition an element is composed of one thing

D&D General Who “owns” a PC after the player stops using them?

As a GM I have used old PCs as retired NPCs, or sometimes transplanted them in a completely different campain (From SKT to Drakkenheim). I do try to ask for permission though. If the NPC is merely inspired by a PC, but the name has been changed, the design personality tweaked... I probably...

It also says "with permission". Now, in a sane world, you (a game publisher) would never claimed art was used with permission if it wasn't - it would be a guaranteed way to enrage the artist, far more than just stealing art. But with this bunch, I wouldn't put it bast them...

D&D General Every core monster ever in D&D

... that seems like more of a nomenclature tweak than a real difference... or were they really different? (or at least more different than dragons changed over the editions?)
