The $75 price tag for the new set keeps me from getting it, although I had played the original ages ago and loved it. Maybe if I hit the lottery :) If you got the means, get it, you won't be sorry!

In my d20 modern campaign, I am planning on sending my PC's (who are going to be something akin to sliders) to Faerun for an adventure or two, starting with a run in with an illthid and then ending with being chastised (if things go well) by Elminster :)

If you had already bought the 1.0 version, the update is free! If you haven't bought it, it will really be worth whatever it costs. I personally find DNW's the best of the entire crop of d20 supers games (and I've read them all save Silver Age Sentinels) for capturing the feel of a supers game...
