Restoration - 3 round casting time?

Note there is a Potion of Lesser Restoration. I believe this only takes a standard action to use. Hrmmm, what about reading a scroll of Restoration or Greater Restoration? Does it take the full casting time, or only a standard action? If the latter, it makes the scroll very useful. If not...

making Prestige classes into Core classes

I recommend strongly against this. A prestige class generally represents belonging to an organization - a specialization. It shouldn't take 20 levels to represent this. Often, it shouldn't take even 10 levels ... a lot of the abilities thrown in are filler. What are you trying to achieve by...

    Jabberwocky!

First, I'm assuming the Jabberwock is a unique creature, and that creating unique mechanics to handle killing it is reasonable. In a questing type of campaign, it's entirely reasonable that the Jabberwock can only be killed (or hurt) by a vorpal weapon. Then the party has to quest/make a vorpal...

    Just got Races of Stone

What is the Divine Prankster? It looks like it might be the equivalent of Arcane Trickster from the title. How many skill points/level? Are the skills Roguish? How many levels of divine spellcasting progression? What prerequisites? Thanks.

    I need advice, Tower / Heavy shield ? ?

Yep, looks like Animated Heavy Shield +1 is your best option for 9,000gp. I was incorrect about Monkey Grip.

    High-Level Play: Nightmare for DMs?

Unique is an AD&Dism. The Tarrasque for example was unique. It wasn't rare or very rare, it was unique. Unfortunately, it seems the 3E D&D has failed to really define unique in this sense.

    I need advice, Tower / Heavy shield ? ?

Why are you spending money on animated (+2)? I think this may be a mistake - are there better ways of improving your AC? To animate the shield takes a standard action and costs a +2 enhancement bonus. Hrmm, then again there is no time limit on it, so I guess you can wander around with it...

Group Project: Class Abilities as Feats for UA Generic Classes

I'd stick to the PHB and Arcana Unearthed to begin with for creating generic feats. Take a look at Arcana Unearthed for Uncanny Dodge as a feat. One way of breaking down powerful class features into feats is to make them multiple feats. e.g. Maybe Rage becomes +2 STR, +2 CON for a feat, and...

    High-Level Play: Nightmare for DMs?

Ruleslawyer, I agree that Gate is a plot device. Is it broken ... depends on the creature you summon and control, potentially yes, so I agree with you adding it to the list. Rushlight, a DM can balance anything - the DM makes up the rules. The question is, as written, what 9th level spells are...

ideas for a level 15 eldtrich knight's new feat?

Definitely Arcane Strike. That feat is so good that I would ban it. For any melee-type with Arcane spells (e.g. Fighter/Wizard or Rogue/Wizard types), it is awesome. You burn a spell as a _free_ action, and get +spell_level to damage and attack. That bonus is mighty nice, when you have 3 or 4...

    High-Level Play: Nightmare for DMs?

Broken 9th level spells Following up on what hong said, I had a quick look through the SRD to see which 9th level spells I consider broken or plot device spells: Mage's (Mordenkainen's) Disjunction: removes spell buffs and destroys magic items, broken because the first side to disjunction the...

    Rogue/Psion synergy and builds

Hey folks, Anyone got any Rogue/Psion type builds they would care to share? As INT is a Psion's primary ability, it would seem the classes should have good synergy. I'm curious if the Psion spells are more useful to a Rogue than a Wizards. In particular, an obvious benefit of Psion should be...

    Mislead and dectect evil?

Here's how I would rule: Round 1 after Mislead cast - is there evil present within 60'? Yes. Evil was present before, so no change, nothing noticed with Detect Evil. Round 2 after Mislead cast - has the number of evil auras changed or the power of the most evil aura present changed within...

Please help me, PHB / DMG only !

Don't underrate the Monk levels ... 2nd level in Monk gets you Evasion. 1st and 2nd level Monk give you Evasion, Unarmed Strike, Flurry of Blows, Improved Grapple (useful for when you get grappled), Deflect Arrows, and +3 to all your saves for 1 BAB. And you get more skill points than you get...

Please help me, PHB / DMG only !

Human Monk 2/Fighter 4. Aiming for Duelist at level 8. Feats: Human - Combat Expertise Levels - Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack Monk - Improved Grapple, Deflect Arrows (works nicely with Duelist later) Fighter - Weapon Focus (Rapier), Weapon Specialization (Rapier), Weapon Finesse I'd...

    cleric/rogue character builds?

If your DM allows Divine Trickster, I'd go with Rogue 4/Cleric 4/Divine Trickster 3. You need at least Rogue 3 and Cleric 3 to qualify for Divine Trickster, and for BAB purposes you're better off going to level 4 in those classes before Divine Trickster. (At 20th level, I'd go for Rogue 4/Cleric...

    cleric/rogue character builds?

As Thanee pointed out, if your DM is allowing Complete Divine feats, you can take Practiced Spellcaster - I would swap Rapid Shot for that. Then your Cleric spellcaster level is 11 for the purpose of penetrating SR, duration and other level-dependent spell effects.

Race: Halfling +2 Dex, -2 Str Small size: +1 AC, +1 to attack, +4 to Hide, 20' base speed (-6 to Jump) +1 to all saves, +2 to saves vs. fear +1 to attack with thrown weapons & slings Skills: +2 Climb, +2 Jump, +2 Listen, +2 Move Silently Favored class: Rogue Rogue 4/Cleric 7 (1st level is...

Improved Familiar stats don't match MM?

I'm fairly sure they forgot to update some of the Improved Familiar stat blocks to 3.5E. Beyond that, they also forgot to fix the 3.5E DMG familiar feats (i.e. for the difference sized familiars) that were given to the master to be in line with the 3.5E PHB. Blech.

Using 2 stats to determine spellcasting: What do you think?

It really depends how you want abilities to work. Consider a melee guy, he has 3 primary abilities: STR, DEX, CON. STR is the best of these (offense). DEX can be almost as important as STR, if you have Weapon Finesse. You can usually do it such that either you're the DEX & CON (light armor...
