Looking for a Steampunk character name

Oh, I'm all about obscure references! Maybe I could use Orchid as well? Maybe I should look up wrist blades and see if there's anything else like that! I'm off on an "Amelia" kick. I love Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody character, so I'm working on possible surnames for an Amelia now. Way...

Looking for a Steampunk character name

Good stuff! So maybe one thing would be to go with Victoria as a first name. Not Vicky, Victoria. That would place the character pretty solidly in a Victorian time frame (through association if no other way). Doesn't hurt that I like that name! So then we go to cadence, which I like as a...

    Virtual Tabletop software?

I was exactly the same way. I got to that "just do it" point and was very concerned because the VTT that I had was one that the players would have to pay for. I sent out mail making that clear, presenting the prices, and asking for feedback. It turned out that four out of the five players had...

Looking for a Steampunk character name

I'm looking for a name for a steampunk character I'm creating. I really want the name to scream steampunk. I want people that have only vaguely heard of steampunk to see the name and think "that's a steampunk character". The charater is female and non-mechanical. She wears blades on her...

    Virtual Tabletop software?

Very well put. I've not used Maptools but that was a strength of FG that I took full advantage of. We had the VTT for years and I finally just said "I'm doing this", bought a module, plugged it into FG, and ran it the following Sunday. Now everyone is having a great time and wanting to GM...

    Virtual Tabletop software?

I agree. Our group is pretty varied financially but we all bought Fantasy Grounds Full licenses. I think it's 40 bucks or so? That's a few months playing an MMOG, or a four trips to the movie theater, or two blu-rays. Best of all, we're now playing in a group again, with people in five...

    Virtual Tabletop software?

We use Fantasy Grounds and have had an excellent experience with it. My impression has been that Fantasy Grounds and Maptool are the two best choices, and that they each have things they're better at than the other (though I haven't used Maptool). I like Fantasy Grounds because the licensed...

Online Paper and Pencil RPG tool

From a Fantasy Grounds perspective you should only have to worry about firewall issues on the hosting server. After the server is set up any player with a working internet connection should be able to connect without adjustments on their end. In addition the newest version of FG will use UPnP...

[Dread] Jenga beat up my dice! My results from the indie horror RPG.

No problem at all, I enjoy helping and being constructive. I'll see what I can do for the reviews. Expect lots of colors and font changes, they tend to use email's formatting capabilities as much as they can. :)

[Dread] Jenga beat up my dice! My results from the indie horror RPG.

It was kind of funny. I had pulled in from my ten hour drive back from GenCon not two hours earlier and Dread House was the first thing they wanted to do. I think the "scariness" made it like a challenge to them. Not refreshing the tower kind of sped things up, especially since the Mummy...

[Dread] Jenga beat up my dice! My results from the indie horror RPG.

I played Dread house Sunday afternoon with my 8 and 7 year old daughters, and we had a good time. There was a lot of "ooo" and "ahhh" moments with the Jenga tower. Myself and the eight year old managed to make it to daytime. The seven year old was a little upset when she tipped the tower and...

    Thursday 2-6pm Dresden Files

Big thanks to Crothian and the other players! I had a great time in the game and I thought it came out VERY Dresden-y. And that was what I was hoping. I had no trouble picturing the final encounter happening in the books! I don't usually play female characters, but I'm glad I picked Marie...

    Savage Worlds: Question for Ari

Also, with the arcane skills, the higher your skill dice the less chance you have for backlash. So if you have a d12 in Weird Science you're going to have fewer exploded dice than a d4, but you'll also have fewer explosions (rolling a 1 on the skill dice).

    EUREKA #3: All The Rage/Season IV/2010

I've always wanted to watch Eureka on a consistent basis and am trying to do so this season using Hulu. Previously I would catch one or two episodes and really wish I could see more. It seems like an "under the radar" show that's really very well done.

    Space 1889

Wow, they have some nice stuff. Space 1889, Deadlands, the Savage Worlds Starter Kit (really tempting), even special Space 1889 bennies! That's going to be one popular booth!

    P90x

I have to have someone telling me what to do. Well, I probably don't HAVE to have someone telling me what to do, but I know I'll do a lot better if there's someone there. I get caught between having someone live tell me what to do, but having to travel to a gym or something and being able to...

    Gaming in the basement

Wisconsin here too, and I think all of my Wisconsin gaming has been done in a basement, including my current VTT game (the computer is downstairs). In every house I can think of where we played in high school we were in the basement. Occasionally outside, but mostly downstairs. When I lived...

    P90x

I'm really leaning toward trying it for sure. Right now I'm getting some analysis done on my shoulder, where I think I have a rotator cuff problem. Once I get that out of the way I think I'm heading toward trying P90x or something like it. I really want to keep the positive momentum that...
