    QR codes in books?

I don't know that I think QR would be right for a DM Guide or in depth rules, but I can absolutely see them as useful in a quickstart or how-to-play type of guide. Talk about making characters and then link to pre-mades and/or a generator and/or a video showing character creation. Same with...

6 hours left in TimeWatch, $7K to full color books!

Congratulations Timewatchers, that was an amazing Kickstarter!

[TimeWatch] I got interviewed in iO9 today!

Man, you must have plotzed when that big ol sophosaur pledge came in! :)

Piratecat's "TimeWatch" kickstarter is 1090% funded and mentioned on Boing Boing. Woot!

The hardcovers and the crossovers with other GUMSHOE games are the two things I was really looking forward to. Looks good for both! The "bestiary" is a great idea as well!

Like I always say, "a kickstarter that good, you don't pledge all at once"! ;)

Piratecat's "TimeWatch" kickstarter is 1090% funded and mentioned on Boing Boing. Woot!

Just backed. This wasn't something I was terribly familiar with, but looking at it the game seems to be well designed with almost limitless possibilities. The idea of a low player count "Quantum Leap" type game is wonderful, the paradox rules make good sense, and it's Pelgrane and GUMSHOE...

What tabletop software do you use?

Fantasy Grounds. Just starting to explore Roll20. I bought Fantasy Grounds way long ago (2006 maybe?) and haven't had to pay to upgrade since. At this point it's cost me pennies per session.

Using long passage of time successfully...examples?

The One Ring has this as well, called the Fellowship Phase. It may be that the designers liked the idea from Pendragon.

What's the Best System for Running LotR?

I would recommend The One Ring without any hesitation. I played the heck out of MERP back in the day, and had fun, but it was always playing Rolemaster in Middle Earth if that makes sense. The One Ring is well designed, well presented (barring the index, and there's now a free much improved...

Announcing the 2012 Gen Con EN World RPG Awards Nominees!

I never thought of Words of the Wise in that way. A promo would have rules in it to allow for people to play it IMO, and Words of the Wise is simply an adventure, no rules previews or combat rules or anything. I'm a little surprised to see Savage Worlds in there, considering it's mostly just a...

    WotC's D&D Virtual Table Cancelled

That's a lot of "if". I don't have any minis. I don't have any battlemats. I don't even have a ton of PDF's or books, just the ones I like to run. I have one camera, no mic stand. I do have dice though! For me something like Fantasy Grounds or Tabletop Forge works better. I don't need...

    WotC's D&D Virtual Table Cancelled

Tabletop Forge had all of those things in probably less than a month of development. They started around the end of January and look where they are now. I'm not sure what the WOTC people were doing. I think Google+ and Tabletop Forge are trying to do that kind of thing with Hangouts. You...

G*M*S Magazine Unboxes The One Ring

I don't have any answers of course, that would be up to Cubicle 7. They're not a big company, and they're in Britain, both of those things might be limiting factors I suppose. I know Wicht on these boards ran games last year at Gen Con. Check out this thread...

Quick question: does the prohibition on online play affect your playtest?

This is almost exactly our group too except it would have been five people. Long time group of experienced players who play online weekly with participants from every U.S. time zone.

    Dice Questions?

I'm surprised by that. It seems like someone would have poly dice for the sight impaired. Weird. Maybe Shapeways could make braille dice?

Skype player + Table group. What to expect?

Here's a link to a Google+ hangouts RPG application currently in development, and looking very good. Tabletop Forge | Google+ Hangout Virtual Tabletop We've used Fantasy Grounds and TeamSpeak for years and had great luck with it. I'm watching Tabletop Forge closely though.

Would you quit a game if....

I've found that I never like the idea of my character dying. That's good because it makes me play smarter. But I've also found that when my character does die, it's never the tragedy I felt like it was going to be. I find myself with the opportunity to try something else, I get excited about...
