D&D 5E (2014) Which common monsters/creature types do you exclude from your campaigns?

No, no I like grell, particularly intelligent space pirate grell in Spelljammer. I stand by my disdain of the fart powered jellyfish and the 'use dice as a monster of cosmic order'.

D&D 5E (2014) Which common monsters/creature types do you exclude from your campaigns?

Savage pack tactic blink dogs would be wonderfully terrifying. Would their baying and howling randomly cut out and emerge while they blink? Even scarier... Gonzo is ok with some things. I don't mind Giff or Space Whales, but modrons leave me cold. I don't mind tentacly weird creatures like...

D&D 5E (2014) Which common monsters/creature types do you exclude from your campaigns?

I don't exclude much but I heavily modify. I stole the idea of goblinoids all being the same creature just different stages of life.

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's Dragons of Stormwreck Isle's Table of Contents

This adventure will have big shoes to fill if it is meant to replace The Lost Mines of Phandelver. I am pleased to see that they are shrinking the scope of the adventure, 6 levels is a lot for a starter set, and 3 seem much more reasonable.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

Yes, grognards always have the originals and 40 years of fan-developed content. Your lawn holds no interest here. It does not reach new audiences and that is the shame of it. Nostalgia is a powerful draw, but it is not enough to breathe new life into Oerth. They should play up that both good...

D&D General What did you think of the Stranger Things D&D game?

I had quite a few brilliant players who were LD and unsupported academically if not for BOCES technical classes. Special Education was a lot of throw them in a classroom at the end of the hall out of sight in the 80s in American education or label them behaviors and send them to vocational school.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

I would love to see Greyhawk for 5E. I love Greyhawk. The WoG boxset was my first purchase with birthday money as a kid. I played a lot to Living Greyhawk in 3E (Kingdom of Keoland represent), so it is near and dear to my heart. That being said, I would like to see Greyhawk updated a bit. I have...

    Spelljammer Spelljammer Miniatures Coming!

The Tradesman always seemed the odd man out in Spelljammer ship names. All the rest of the human ships have animal names, i.e. squid hammerhead, octopus, dragonfly. The tradesman is a fish shape, I don't know that it particularly looks like a flying fish, but it should have a more elaborate name...

D&D General What did you think of the Stranger Things D&D game?

There is a setup for them using critical hits in their D&D campaign. In S3, when Will is in Castle Byers there is a copy of the Best of Dragon V which had an article of critical hits and fumbles tables. I enjoyed the scene. I thought there were a few inaccuracies and anachronisms, but it got...

D&D General Stranger Things Image of a D&D Game

The rolling of d10s was for Lady Applejack a 14th level thief and her thief abilities, maybe assassin abilities. I thought the scene of the game was pretty highlight accurate even if a battlemat seems anachronistic. We used miniatures (badly painted) and measured with a tape measure on the...

D&D 5E (2014) MCDM 5e Psionicist “The Talent” open play test is live!

I applaud the concept but the execution is flawed. The mechanics are super flavorful but punish the player for using his class. The strain concept is strong but the tracks seem arbitrary and crippling to a traditional adventuring party. Strain almost necessitates a 5-minute workday followed by a...

    Spelljammer Spelljammer Miniatures Coming!

I am not so excited about these minis but excited for the rules that would support the need for these minis. I hope we get a ship-scale combat similar to Wildjammer.

Spelljammer Monsters of Spelljammer (part 1)

Neogi are not really similar at all. When they get old, the other neogi begin biting the elderly and injecting enough venom to turn the elder into a mindless bloated host to the next generation of neogi. Other races are only food or slaves. They are a race that makes the illithid look neutral...

Spelljammer Monsters of Spelljammer (part 1)

Neogi are every evil condensed in a small spider/moray eel body with Umber Hulk bodyguards. Not much like alien or predator. There are Spelljammer analogs of both though. Spelljammer took a lot from the 70s and 80s manga. Guyver, Mecha, Kaiju all prominently strut around along with Klingon orcs...

D&D General Vecna and Kas and the Book of Vile Darkness. WotC lore you should know.

The Whispered One, Lord of the Spider Throne, keeper of secrets. I love me some Vecna and seeing him in a product this year would be fantastic. No mention of Die, Vecna, Die...

Spelljammer Monsters of Spelljammer (part 1)

I hope they include the Bionoids and Spirit Warriors. Really the Unhuman wars were a great setting. Giant undead insect mechas and the elven warriors turned into battle monsters that are cast out when the battle is over. I also hope they don't continue the Arcane are behind everything! Very boring.

D&D 5E (2014) Monsters of the Multiverse Releases a Day Early

I was mainly critiquing the use of the 'Disneyfying' angle. Duergar can be a lot of different things. It does sound out of context with the duergar monster entries. How much lore is included in MP:MotM? (not just duergar but overall)
