I think killing them will be a must, but the Channel Divinity is too good to waste (I hate using that term but...), the shove is just to buy time.

I was thinking of using the oil to create a little fire on the water surface to distract the gobbo's more so than anything.

Will it be sufficient to kill these? It does use up your channel divinity and I am not sure what other functions it has. I was thinking of getting Kurzon to shove the one opening the grate and have it collapse on the ones crawling under. Would that be possible?
