D&D 5E (2014) How Often Do You Have NPCs Join the Party?

All the time, but never as actual adventurers. They are people who mostly spend their time in camp, such as butlers, chefs, tailors, laborers, the BBEG, knowledgeable sages, rescued captives who are repaying their kindness...

D&D 5E (2014) Magic item weights aren't listed in DMG

It would be easy enough to adjudicate weights. It also allows you to play up attunement. Maybe a magic item requiring attunment that is not attuned to you weighs more than its nonmagical counterpart, while one that is attuned weighs less or even nothing.

D&D 5E (2014) Villain Strategy: How Ruthless Are You?

It depends a lot on the BBEG. I've had more than a few learn a group's strengths and weaknesses by outright asking them before the group figures out their new travelling companion is the one who's behind everything.

10 Biggest Tabletop RPG News Stories of 2014

Shadowrun never went anywhere; the game has been steadily released and updated since the first edition came out. The current fifth edition is having some quality issues, though; they may fall from the charts again due to Catalyst potentially reducing their products released per year to deal with...

    D&D 3.x The DMG: A CRITICAL HIT at 93.5%!

I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised by how this edition is shaping up. Personally, I think the DMG is the weakest book, but that it fully deserved that score. They've done a good job.

    Wanna See Some O.L.D. Monsters?

I am now imagining a dragon wearing a magical shirt, girdle, pair of pants, and pair of gloves. And wondering why the adventurers are looking at it funny.

BadWrongFun: how far is too far??

Hold still... This device I'm about to use will give you all of the intel you need... *pulls out a neuralyzer and puts on sunglasses* Now, stare at the red light... *flashy-things Starfox* You were about to make a joke about a GM slaughtering gnome PCs when you got distracted by nonsense...

BadWrongFun: how far is too far??

Depends on the game. If it's Shadowrun, the police shootout just adds to the ambiance.

BadWrongFun: how far is too far??

To add to the list... You simulate falling damage by making players jump off the roof of your home. They might land on my car, and then I'd have to sue you! You simulate the characters going to jail by framing the players for felonies. Though, this is an excellent way to be rid of a problem...

That almost sounds like you play with family :p

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

The issue is the hilt style is pretty generic for a few Japanese swords. Would need to see the blade, or at least the scabbard, to know what type it is.

    D&D 5E (2014) Next Campaigns

Based on what we've seen from the playtest so far, I am on the fence. On the one hand, I could see this as being a great edition. On the other hand, it could flop more than a piece of jello dropped on a waterbed. For me, what sells it is campaigns. So, based on what we've seen so far, do you...

D&D 5E (2014) Wait, what IS the point of Acrobatics?

Acrobatics is very useful if you have a Bayonetta-style "fighting on debris while falling from orbit" encounter. Which, strangely, used to come up in games I was in fairly frequently. Rings of resist fire and magic items that eliminated the need to breathe were very popular...

D&D 5E (2014) Are you excited for the Backgrounds?

Didn't vote either. And, to be honest, I think other games have done it better. And some have done it worse.

    D&D 5E (2014) Pet peeve (eladrin thread)

I think it's intended to be lighthearted teasing. At least, that is the way it was once explained to me.

Question for the board - Deities and Domains

The deity is actually based on Hindu deities; that's part of why the deity has multiple arms in art. That's part of why the deity has the duality of both Creator and Destroyer. That said, as others have said, it's really intended to be a monotheistic setting. But that does not mean you can't...

D&D 4E Is there a "Cliffs Notes" summary of the entire 4E experience?

Unfortunately, it's how the internet is >.< Given their successful marketing in so many areas, one would think they could figure out the DnD blunders. Your's was. That and the desire to not end up in a massive fight are why I am talking to you and not the others. And, yeah, people would...
