    D&D 5E (2014) Race-Class Combinations

I personally would not use experience rewards or penalties to enforce favored classes; it sends entirely the wrong message and opens things up for players to exploit. Instead, use RP mechanisms. Maybe a dwarven wizard is teased a lot and not given respect by fellow dwarves. Maybe an elven...

Is a Shadowrun Conversion to 5e D&D even viable?

It is viable, though for ease of conversion it may be best to do a multi-system conversion. Convert it to a system like Savage Worlds, which is more similar to DnD, to get it closer to a d20 system. Then maybe to Pathfinder, which currently has some of what is necessary to support a cyberpunk...

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

You don't want a Viper. When firing any weapon, the craft tend to pull to the left a bit. This can cause you to miss your target widely. I'd suggest going for an old Apache instead. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to launch a sidewinder at a neighbor. They keep playing their music too loud...

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

The 100g is for players to sell it. I would agree on those prices, or even higher, for buying.

    D&D 5E (2014) Missing Spells

It appears that Heal and Lesser Restoration are your best bets for low-level condition healing.

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

Giving the benefit of the doubt for now, but your opening almost calls for a hostile reply. The prices listed in the DMG are an optional rule. And, as you have noted, they are a rule that really tends to punish players for trying to sell magic items; even within the optional rules, the system...

D&D 5E (2014) What are the Roles now?

Take a look at the two superheroes who I did cite as being defensive. Superman has no particular ability to really defend; his primary defense is that he's effectively indestructible without one certain material involved. And... that's it. The rest of his powers are focused on offense and...

    D&D 5E (2014) magic items prices

In general, it's best to assume the magic item cannot be sold. I would say they can donate it to someplace if they wish; having a temple or arcane university seriously in your debt for getting rid of an excess magic item is worth a lot more than mere gold.

    D&D 5E (2014) Scariest Monster Ever

D&D 5E (2014) What are the Roles now?

Then you're misunderstanding how 5E works on checks. The player asks if they can do something, and you see if they have a skill that might be related; if they don't have it, you call for a simple ability check. If you're reading the write-up as being literally all a skill can do, then your...

D&D 5E (2014) What are the Roles now?

I mean a character who is primarily focused on defense, or at least acts like it often enough that it can be seen as a primary focus. Even within X-men and similar franchises, there are examples of this. Wolverine and the Hulk, despite both being rather good at it, don't qualify because they do...

Sounds to me like they invested one of their skill specializations in Medicine.

D&D 5E (2014) What are the Roles now?

A lot of the depictions I've seen him in tend to treat the defensive capabilities of Colossus as a secondary ability, with him more capable at attacking or aiding with attacking. That suggests a primary striker, secondary defender. However, just because he can defend doesn't mean he is a...

[merged] Archery: the films have it wrong

A lot of the challenges I've seen to his technique have been that it doesn't work so well against thick armor. Thing is, working against heavy armor is part of why polearms were invented.

D&D 5E (2014) What are the Roles now?

What you said about 4E things in 5E is true, and I honestly think 5E is stronger for it, but what I quote is not true. 3E still has a revenue stream, and in fact has kept a steady revenue stream ever since WotC shut down production of their products for it. It's just not WotC that sees the revenue.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about The Strange.

If no one's playing it, then calling it dead in the water isn't harsh; it's a statement of reality. It sucks majorly when that happens to a good game, and the Strange has a lot about it that is good. But, at current, it might as well not exist as far as what I can see of how many people are...

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about The Strange.

I've also seen Numenera drop in popularity since 5E came out, so I'm not surprised that an even-more niche offshoot just isn't garnering any attention. Realistically, I kinda suspect that Strange is a dead-end for online play just due to its recursion-hopping mechanics. That limits it to a...

D&D 5E (2014) What are the Roles now?

Except that what you state is not the the 4E definition of a defender. What you are describing is the way it typically works in other editions of DnD. Even more so since, in comics, ignoring the Hulk or Thing usually works out for the villain.
