    Dark Conspiracy Returns in 2018…

I didn't take from this press release that there was no conspiracy. The verbiage about humans aiding the horrors seemed to imply it is still in this version of the game.

    Dark Conspiracy Returns in 2018…

Great premise for a game. Vampires, E.T., and Cthulhu. What's not to like about that? Any idea as to the mechanics that will power this game?

Starfinder A STARFINDER Bonanza - Preorder Core Rules, First AP, Compatibility License, & More!

I guess I'm skeptical that a level-based rpg with D&D as its heritage is going to be able to pull it off successfully. We saw how d20 Modern did in relation to 3.x, and Star Wars only sold as well as it did because of the licensed IP. I hope it'll be successful, but it seems like a lot more is...

Starfinder A STARFINDER Bonanza - Preorder Core Rules, First AP, Compatibility License, & More!

I dunno. I really want to like this, but D&D in Space is turning me off... If they ditch magic being so common and use the occult rules and a psionics system, and make it more difficult to "know" things, it'll make it feel more like a scifi setting. A lot less combat and a lot more...

Starfinder A STARFINDER Bonanza - Preorder Core Rules, First AP, Compatibility License, & More!

Twilight:2013 (sadly OOP) is what you are looking for. Abstract range bands and tick-based action economy. I'm getting more and more less enthused by Starfinder. More science, less fantasy please!

Pathfinder 1E Is there a way to beat Energy Resistance/Immunity?

His "...get this going right from Level 1..." sounded to me like he was trying to bypass it even at 1st level. Even if that isn't the case, I'm all for not trying to go through the walls when the rules put them in there in the first place with the intent of having the means to defeat them at...

Pathfinder 1E Is there a way to beat Energy Resistance/Immunity?

Or, you could just suck it up and recognize that a 1st level PC is going to have a rough go of it against such creatures. That's why you have a fighter or Paladin to hit it with a weapon. Cold iron or a good aligned weapon does full damage to a dretch.

Check Out The 20 Top-Rated RPG Items!

I'm ok with adventures of any length; I'd just like to see a publisher provide a bunch of hooks and links within longer ones to have a bunch of potential branches to other adventures - especially if it is a supermodule or part of an adventure path. For example - the old Mysteries of the Moonsea...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Presents Alternative Encounter Building Guidelines

Maybe I'm just used to it, but my method generally works 75% of the time. All I do is add one or two HD or Character levels to each of the NPCS, depending upon how long I want the fight to take. Examples (spoiler alert): In Sons of Gruumsh, I made sure that Vhazror did most of his attacks...

What Will Become of the FLGS?

I dunno - my own experience (going back 35 years or so) isn't that it is smelly FLGS play space with unfriendly staff; it isn't CCGs taking over from RPGs in terms of shelf space; it isn't a glut of awful quality product for popular gaming lines sitting on shelves for years. Based upon my...

Pathfinder 1E Being attacked through a door problem (sunder vs breaking an object)?

If you are using a slashing or bludgeoning weapon, it is a sunder. If you are using "...sudden force rather than dealing damage..." it is a Strength check. The break DC should be equivalent to to an item that has the same hardness and hit points for a 2 handed hafted weapon (hardness 5, hp 10)...

Pathfinder 1E Wait, the katana only does d8?

I don't know whether or not they should have 1d8 or 1d10. What I do know is, my samurai character with the sword saint archetype and the right feats, is able to crit on a 15 or better and in the best possible case (4 attacks, all of them crits), can do 441 points of damage each round. When you...

What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

While KS may be common for RPG publishing, it really isn't all that common for traditional book publishers. The "about us" on their Trapdoor Books website (which is selling novels, not RPGs) states the following: "An important note about Trapdoor Books: We do not provide literary agency...

What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

So then it sounds like they are trying to use the kickstarter for one project to fund the overhead for their entire company? How are other products/projects that they claim are using their technology faring? I'll reiterate that their website simply states "coming soon" with no additional links...

What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

Perhaps they ought to ask themselves, is, if they were venture capitalists instead of software developers, would they fund this project? You look at their main webpage and get a "coming soon," yet they apparently have a trapdoor books website - an "emerging small press." If we know that WotC...

    D&D Tools Website Closed

If it is on the wayback machine, it can easily be reached by almost any semi-savvy web user. It isn't dead, just a bit more difficult to access... Considering that a lot of the 3.x pages on wotc's own site are missing, I'd think a small licensing deal might allow him to reopen his site.

    D&D 5E (2014) Official D&D Basic Discussion Thread

Advantage and Disadvantage. Me likey. They finally are acknowledging that "more chances" is better than "higher modifiers." I find the spell-casting rules for scalable damage, when combined with the description of Arcane Tradition, to be a refreshing change in that it naturally forces...

D&D 5E (2014) Wounds and Vitality module, what default mechanics don't fit?

I'm wondering if there is too much emphasis on a binary "hp or vp/wp" and no consideration of other potential systems to handle injuries. I favor a system adapted from Twilight: 2013 where all creatures have a "base hit points" that is determined solely by STR and CON with some factors ([10 +...

    Still jazzed about...

I'm still enthralled by Twilight:2013. The campaign setting reboot was not done well, bu the mechanics are really solid and there is no other game out there that does modern military/near-future post-apocalyptic better. Unfortunately, I never managed to pick up the last adventure written...
