D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls is back on the D&D RPG Team

At this point, I don't even really want a new edition of D&D, regardless of who does it. I rather, want a supplement that fundamentally changes how D&D plays, from the ground up. I want bolt-ons for a lifepath, classless, skill based system with gritty/realistic death spiral mechanics that can...

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls is back on the D&D RPG Team

This. I'm tired of the "new hotness" designers. I would much prefer old school designers doing new hotness design because there are design concepts that have been lost over the past 30+ years that are better than current ones.

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls is back on the D&D RPG Team

Doesn't matter, if part of a legal investigation. If, on the other hand, someone forwards emails from accuser to accused in an attempt to stop an investigation, that's different. Corporations usually have well established policies on how to handle PII.

D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls is back on the D&D RPG Team

Forwarding emails during the course of a corporate investigation is not doxxing someone. It's called gathering evidence.

Free League Announces Twilight: 2000 4th Edition

This. Doing [stuff I can't talk about] with [people I can't name] in places [that I can neither confirm nor deny I was at] and realizing that TW:2K was closer to reality than I could have ever have expected. Before that, however, I'd say earlier generations were far more rational and did a far...

Free League Announces Twilight: 2000 4th Edition

You know, the out of print TW:2013 might satisfy you in the interim. Lifepath system, resource management, check. For info on non-US, check out Paul Mulcahy's site. I don't know if it still exists or if you'd have to use the wayback machine, but Mitch Berg had a website expanding a bunch of...

Before or after hiding a wristwatch? (Obligatory Pulp Fiction reference)

Free League Announces Twilight: 2000 4th Edition

I don't know about this. I liked the V1/V2/V2.2 rule set and loved the timeline and backstory. I love love love the TW:2013 rule set even though the timeline and backstory leaves a lot to be desired (child of the 70s/80s I am...) I'm not exactly sure how their rule set will play. Anybody...

D&D General Joe Manganiello's D&D Campaign Includes a Game of Thrones Creator & Vince Vaughn

What kind of life does someone have that their biggest thrill is standing next to someone else for less than a minute? I don't get it. Yeah, he's an actor in TV. Yeah, the physical fitness may attract people. But the guy isn't there to be worshipped or kowtowed to... I've traveled all over...

D&D General Joe Manganiello's D&D Campaign Includes a Game of Thrones Creator & Vince Vaughn

I took more umbrage at the criticism of Vince Vaughn by some of the posters moreso than criticism that there were no females in his game as presented in the article, for the very reason you describe. I'd wager that Vaughn and Tom Morello are at complete opposite ends of the political spectrum...

D&D General Joe Manganiello's D&D Campaign Includes a Game of Thrones Creator & Vince Vaughn

I think this is a great illustration that people from all walk of life can gather to engage in a social activity. Rewind 20 years+, and these famous people were uncoordinated high school dorks like everyone else. For famous people, this is a "safe" way to enjoy getting together without having...

    How to Evil Properly?

Yep - that's the key. Who it is that a particular society considered worthy of being considered people. Almost every society and culture has its origins in tribal thinking borne of surviving as hunter-gatherers. Protect and build your tribe - anything that interferes with that is evil...

    How to Evil Properly?

But, it does. Native American cultures in the Eastern portions of the US and Canada would torture captives taken in battle. To them, it wasn't evil. White people killing buffalo just for the trophy and not otherwise using the animal - definitely evil because it was a wasteful slap in the...

    D&D 3.x Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play 3rd Edtion D&D? How Was/Is it?

This. The only feats that should be allowed are those that add flavor or open up new abilities. Feats that do nothing but provide a mechanical benefit, such as weapon focus, should have never been part of the rules.

    D&D 3.x D20 Modern: Edition Experience - Did/Do You Play d20 Modern? How Was/Is it?

I generally don't like hit points, wounds/vitality, etc. in games that are trying to emulate the world we are familiar with in the modern era. For a more fantastic Bond-esque world or superspies, SPECTRE, etc. I think it works well enough. Automatic and Burst Fire was relatively...

Critical Role PSA: You are not Matt Mercer

How is it gatekeepy to make the assertion that people who voice act for a living are going to be better at playing a role than people who don't? Or - to stick with your example of football. A guy who plays in the premier league (regardless of whether or not a TV camera is broadcasting it)...

Critical Role PSA: You are not Matt Mercer

A home game played by professional voice actors is a performance, even if unintentional. That's like saying Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen playing a pickup game in the park isn't the same as as an NBA game. It's still a performance...

    D&D 3.x D20 Modern: Edition Experience - Did/Do You Play d20 Modern? How Was/Is it?

Tried it, hated it; too generic. "Strong Hero" and "Fast Hero?" Spycraft 1.0 did d20 Modern better than d20 Modern. Shadowforce Archer was an amazing implementation of science fantasy, conspiracy theories, world-shattering things with Chemical Monsters, Psionics, and Mystics. d20 Dark...

Critical Role PSA: You are not Matt Mercer

I dunno. I'll just say that critical role is professional voice actors engaged in a serial "radio" show disguised as D&D. No one should give a hoot about trying to be them - be yourselves. Whatever level of 1st person/3rd person roleplay you are comfortable with is fine.

    D&D General Alignment in D&D

I kinda like the idea of going back to just the Law - Neutral - Chaos of BD&D. "Good" and "Evil" are clearly subjective, based upon a society's values and norms. "Law" is pretty straightforward - you follow the rules and values of a society, "Chaos" means you reject those laws and values...
