D&D 5E (2024) Why is Ritual Caster gated?

You don't need to be a spellcaster to take Ritual Caster. You DO need either Int, Wis, or Cha at 13+.

All credit to Treantmonk, of course.

D&D Movie/TV Honor Among Thieves takes the Hugo for best long-form presentation

I can see how HAT beat Spider-Man in the Hugo. Both are great movies, but Spider-Man focuses more on story and character development while HAT has more focus on the fantasy elements. And the Hugo leans more towards excellence in depicting sci-fi and fantasy elements than it does on having a...

    D&D General D&D memes thread discussion…

I had a brand new player die to a crit on the very first attack roll of her very first tutorial combat in 3.5e. We both were a little stunned, so we improvised and had her twin sister rush over right then to avenge her death.

D&D 5E (2024) Learning to Love the Background System

Crafter does have the minor perk of impacting spell components. 240gp Revivify, 800gp Hero's Feast, etc.

D&D General Deborah Ann Woll Teaches Jon Bernthal D&D

I joke about DAW's love of puzzles, but she is an extremely talented DM.

D&D 5E (2024) Learning to Love the Background System

Just in general I want to inspire more build diversity instead of less. It doesn't bother me that some options may get picked more often than others, so I will certainly be allowing custom backgrounds at my own table. Plus, the implication that only humans have Lucky Criminals, Alert Soldiers...

    D&D General Gen X D&D

Married with Children, Rosanne, early Simpsons, Daria? I was raised on trolling. It's basically my love language. :geek:

I love that Harry Kim died and another Harry Kim just took his place, and nobody cared after that episode.

    D&D 5E (2024) So IS it a new edition?

It's a "new edition" in the way that Games Workshop pumps out new codex that can blow up the meta. It's the "same edition" in the way that it's not a big departure from 5E. And ten years from now I'm pretty sure they will call the next release 6E not 7E. So, 5.5.

D&D 5E (2024) Current Stealth Rule Actually Works As Is. If Moving Out of Cover After Hiding Makes Enemies Immediately "Finds You", Hide Would Be Totally UNUSABLE.

It is certainly easy to narrate an explanation, but it would be even better if the rules clearly state what happens, without such ambiguous phrasing. It's something a sentence, or even just a few words could clear up.

D&D 5E (2024) Current Stealth Rule Actually Works As Is. If Moving Out of Cover After Hiding Makes Enemies Immediately "Finds You", Hide Would Be Totally UNUSABLE.

Agreed. A DM is probably going to have no problem making a ruling that will keep things flowing smoothly at their table. But there is value in sitting down and trying to hammer out what the rules actually say/mean, and the OP has made several "rulings" that are not necessarily supported or are...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

The new background attribute system. You should be able to pick any attribute/origin feat. They took the step forward in Tashas, then took half a step back.
