    Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

Hero's Journey was a mythology focused TTRPG with a stated delivery date of 2014. Now the catch here is that they had a VERY successful Mythology Blog focused around the game Scion, absolutely overflowing with high quality research. And even if you know nothing about Scion you could still read...

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

It should be possible. Ambivalence is being torn or conflicted between opposing opinions, and one of those can certainly be mild curiosity.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

Same. I'm no Matt Mercer, and can't do an accent without my players cracking up, but their table is a decent representation of how my tables play. I mean, we're also hideous trolls compared to them, but we're all big scenery chewing hams.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I'm very appreciative DH uses longer durations like scenes in its spells and powers. Using concrete measurements like minutes when D&D is usually played in taffy time has always been weird. Like, I don't know anyone who runs Detect Thoughts RAW. Many people say they do, but the actual length of...

D&D General Forgotten Realms - why do you still like running games here? +

You can put a + spin on the high level NPCs! It makes some campaigns hilarious when seen through that lens. Like, take Tomb of Annihilation. There is no way the FR liches are going to tolerate Acererak succeeding, so him failing becomes a foregone conclusion. So you're the barely coordinated...

D&D 5E (2024) ADHD Medication Design Challenge: Let's skin this cat.

Custom Vote. I would love monster ecologies! One of my favorite things was reading all the ecology entries in Dragon Magazine. Most of them have gone away, in favor of the notion that monsters should be setting generic - and I don't disagree with that, but the ecologies were still incredibly fun!

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

There's also the Extended Downtime section on pg 181 where you can skip forward a chunk of time. Perfect for 'Between Sessions' if your adventure finished, and there's a couple of days (or longer) before the next adventure starts. It recommends you gain 1d6 Fear per player! My players joked...

    D&D 5E (2024) The 4 Classes I Would Not Play 1-20 In 5.5

As a comical and arbitrary metric, I like to ask myself "Can this class get to a Floating Castle?" Now, that doesn't mean I must take the option that can get me to a Floating Castle, but does the class have some way to overcome this problem? Some combination of spell or class ability? Maybe a...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Absolutely. It can sting a bit knowing your friends are off having game night without you, and sometimes it's even worth it to bite the bullet and buy in just so you can hang out with your friends in a social capacity. But it's alright to sit out games you won't enjoy, both for your own benefit...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Not that I've found. It's been pretty all over the place, with a few extremely restrictive DMs, a few very permissive DMs, and then a bunch floating around in the middle? I see a lot of focused games where there are thematic restrictions, or games taking place in homebrew settings that don't...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

I may be getting some details wrong, but it is my understanding that @EzekielRaiden has had some EXTREMELY bad experiences with DM's on power trips in the past, and they feel very strongly that DM's should include a conversation in Session 0 about what kind of behavior and actions should be...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Usually because the GM wants the players to have fun and engage in the world cooperatively. If the GMs goal is for the players to have fun, they are not going to intentionally try to make the situation unenjoyable for the player, and will make a reasonable effort to discover what the players...

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

100% Agreed. You can involve all of your players in narrative collaboration, some of your players, or none of your players and run the game just like 5E, and Daggerheart works just fine in every scenario. It really can be run in the Traditional Auth GM style without a hitch.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

I have so many horror stories I could write a small book! Got mugged at knifepoint by the DM's older brother one time. Been punched in the face by a player. One player described having sex with a sheep to get a free level up from the DM. Tipped back in a chair until it almost touched the floor...
