This has been discussed a lot in this thread. That version of the character is based on a major iconic Supergirl series called Woman of Tomorrow. If you scroll back you’ll find plenty of discussion about it.

He portrays a character who worked in a similar industry to his own previous career, but that's where the similarities end. That doesn't make him the same character, or a character which has a life similar to his, or imply that he deals with the same challenges and issues that the character did.

He didn’t invent the term “comet-like object”. While I don’t personally know its origin, a quick google search shows the term being used in NASA releases going back years. It appears to be a perfectly commonplace term.
