Who is/was the world's greatest scientist?

Such stuff may look "easy" by the standards of today. In their time, it may not have been. For example, mathematicians from antiquity didn't always have the formal notation to express their ideas. So they had to write it out in words, and not equations. (Such as Al-Khwarizmi)...

How did Trek Become Such a Phenomenon?

One current sci-fi tv show which does this in a clever manner, is Continuum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuum_%28TV_series%29

How did Trek Become Such a Phenomenon?

Person of Interest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Person_of_Interest_%28TV_series%29 (This show is probably more a "neutral" outlook on the future, than generally a "positive" outlook).

    [July] What are you watching?

I've been watching Defiance (one more episode left) and "Under The Dome". "Under The Dome" so far seems kinda underwhelming. I'll watch the next few episodes to see how it goes.

    Describe your non-RPG book collection

Mostly engineering and advanced mathematics type books. Some technical computer books. A few years ago, I picked up a large number of older Star Trek novels (ie. published before 1999) from several book fairs.

What websotes do you use for movies reviews?

This is more or less what I do too, but with amazon.com ratings. But in the case of amazon.com ratings, one-star and two-star ratings also includes stuff indirectly related to the movie quality itself, such as stuff like technical problems from particular defective dvd discs. For example, the...

What websotes do you use for movies reviews?

One-star and two-star reviews on amazon.com A sign of a really awful movie is when more than half of the amazon.com reviews are one-star and two-star ones.

Person of Interest is an interesting show

At this point, I see this show as more of a "what if" scenario of a computer that is able to do all this stuff. With present day technology, I'm somewhat more skeptical that this can be done as portrayed in the show. I was reading a recent thread on a computer security expert's blog, which...

Person of Interest is an interesting show

I liked season 1 a lot more than season 2.

    Defiance - Syfy

I'm still watching too, albeit with declining interest. (I'll probably dvr the rest of the season, even if the episodes end up being stockpiled and unwatched). Even if one removed all the sci-fi specific tropes/trappings from Defiance, the underlying writing and story telling hasn't been...

    [May] What are you watching?

I'm presently watching Orphan Black, Defiance, and Continuum. (Orphan Black has 4 episodes to go, while the latter two shows end their runs around the beginning of July). In terms of movies, I'm still debating on whether to see Star Trek Into Darkness. Most likely I'll probably end up reading...

What would be good examples of this?

    [May] What has you listening?

    "South of Heaven" by Slayer.

    Metal School

Ian Gillan's live versions of the song "Black Sabbath" (from the "Born Again" tour) sounded really intense. I thought he did it better than Ozzy and Dio.

[Trailer] Star Trek - Into Darkness

I will probably end up reading the novelization, before watching the actual movie.

Best non-eBay way to sell comic trades?

With such low returns via selling on Ebay and other venues, these days I don't bother anymore with selling old stuff which has very little to no resale value. I usually just give away old stuff I have no use for anymore, to local friends, relatives, etc ... If they don't want it, I just donate...
