D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Loved that. I got so much use of that boxed set and I wasn't even using it for D&D. And the Waterdeep city boxed set had all those maps that fit together. We spread them all over the kitchen floor (back when kneeling on a kitchen floor was a lot easier) and just explored! Fixed typo, floor, not...

Yeah. Even Eddie's moved on to Johnny Storm.

    D&D 5E (2024) Heroes of the Borderlands

Brad Kerr's Wyvern Songs for OSE is my favourite introduction for new players. It's a little sandbox area with quirky, imaginative, fun locations and awesome NPCs. We had many hours of fun with this little book. And yes, Merry Mushmen does amazing work!

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

This definitely wasn't my favourite Jake portrayal, as he is kind of annoying. DS9 isn't perfect but overall, I like how Jake is handled character wise.

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

I like the fact that Sisko's son is just a typical kid. He has no interest in joining Starfleet and is pursuing writing. He's still figuring himself out and can be exasperating at times but not constantly. I love the relationship between Sisko and Jake, which always remains close. It's cool...

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Yeah, it's interesting that Jake starts off as the more mature one and a good influence on Nog. Nog outstips him, maturity wise, and you can see them drift apart. It feels very real. DS9 has the best characters in this group of Trek shows.

New Daggerheart Kickstarter Announced, Chris Perkins, Jeremy Crawford's Plans Revealed

Darrington does avoid crowd funding. But these cards are tricky. Hit? Flop? Probably in between but no way to know. They are also an expanding company which can be a risky spot to be in. KS seems a good idea.

New Daggerheart Kickstarter Announced, Chris Perkins, Jeremy Crawford's Plans Revealed

Which is what they did for the game. As @overgeeked says, they'd like to know the interest levels, so they'll be able to get their print runs closer to customer needs. This isn't gross. It's actually good customer relations.

Brennan Lee Mulligan to GM Critical Role Campaign 4

Matt will be running Age of Umbra2 so even if Campaign 4 does stick with D&D, Daggerheart is not getting abandoned. Having said this, DH as the game of choice in the next camlaign would be cool for them. (I don't actually watch Critical Role but yay for more DH).

Spend Some Adventure Time In The Land Of Eem

Kids are great at coming up with additions. They're naturally "Yes and/No but" gamers because that's how they play.

Outside combat is a great way to spend fear. During combat I mostly use fear to take monster turns and to fuel their abilities. I agree with the pseudo compels as well.

Spend Some Adventure Time In The Land Of Eem

Just arrived at our house yesterday. Looks fun. The map is folded heavy duty like a board game and I love the meeples. Game scooped up some Ennies!

Congratulations to the 2025 ENnie Award Winners!

Fan Favourite Company was the only category WotC was in. They and Paizo don't submit anything anymore.

Of course there are classes dedicated to combat. You need them because combat as a fail state does not mean you can completely avoid it. You will get noticed, fail in your negotiations, etc. The point is you want to have things in your favour as much as possible. If you have to fight, set things...

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

Exactly. There are luck tokens, characters don't automatically die at 0 hp, spells may fizzle but they can also go on streaks and characters start with more than one spell. The game has modes of play for dialing the difficulty up or down. The book heavily encourages the modern take on old school...

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

I sometimes do this. I try to track down the creator's actual plays if I can. Watched some of Kelsey's walkthroughs and definitely sought out a couple of Brindlewood Bay streams because I was nervous about running it.

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

I never liked D&D back in the day because of the rapid character death, the horribly boring dungeons and the slow crawl of hitting every square with the 10 'pole and thoroughly investigating every square inch for traps and lurking "gotchas." I remember the days of Bob the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I...

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

If this is how your GMs are running SD, no wonder you had a frustrating time. Kelsey wrote great advice for running the game in the text. If it's followed the game will be challenging, but not super deadly, and a lot of fun.

    Shadowdark Finally Played Shadowdark

It's vital that SD not be played like 5e or even 2e. Danger should be telegraphed so players can make informed choices. Combat will happen, of course, but players should have chances to avoid it, bluff or intimidate their way through. Yes, you lose spells on a failed roll, but if you succeed...
