Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

Well not to derail my own thread gamerprinter - There's a guy on the other forum who is going with the very very strict interpretation of the LG paladin and that character he describes to me is much more LN as he's adhering to Laws of man above all else in his arguments. My position is that...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

That's the thing, it's all about the alignment not the edicts. There are some who give Paladins a lot of leeway with some room for interpretation and some who hold to the LG alignment like a straightjacket and if a paladin bends or breaks a law they call for their fall. There's actually quite an...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

@delericho - I guess the way that I meant by not actively doing good was the same in my mind as always doing evil. I looked at the Anti-Paladin code again last night and it says they will work with good aligned characters and so some good as long as it furthers their evil ways. So as long as...

Pathfinder 1E Good prestige class for a ranger?

Cool! I like the spell-less ranger archetype myself.

Pathfinder 1E Good prestige class for a ranger?

Well technically you are supposed to take an Archetype prior to level 2, so I'd talk with my GM if I were you to see if they'd allow it. Those replace a lot of your abilities/powers/spells etc.

Pathfinder 1E Good prestige class for a ranger?

Archetypes are all about flavor for PF. You gain some abilities by going into them just like you do when multi-classing. You also lose some abilities that you'd normally get if you just stayed straight up vanilla ranger. So I say look at the links the others provided and find the kind of flavor...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

I find it interesting that you say that the different Law/Neutral/Chaos would get a different amount of "strikes" Psi. I'd say that they'd have the same amount of strikes vs their particular codes. For example if a CE Paladin willfully does good acts and perhaps kills high ranking members of his...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

I'd disagree with being impossible for a CG Paladin to lose his powers. The code for one would be following the tenets/teachings/dogma of his deity. So say I'm a Paladin of Cayden Cailean who is a CG good and I'm a CG Paladin who follows him. His most revered and strict tenet is going to be...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

How about for Neutral Good Paladins and Neutral Evil Anti-Paladins?

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

Okay cool I see them here. So they are CG (Freedom), CE (Slaughter), and LE (Tyranny). So basically it adds 2 variants to Pathfinder if you go with a 3.5 conversion since Slaughter is basically an Anti-Paladin. I like the codes that they give for reference, I'll have to model mine for the other...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

So it sounds like what you are saying is that the class would be "Crusader" and then the archetypes would be the Paladin, Blackguard, Avenger, Tyrant, Anti-Paladin, etc? If that' so, then it's an interesting concept except that there are already a bunch of archetypes for Paladins and Anti-Paladins.

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

I have never played either of those two classes, nor have I ever had a group where someone played one, so I'm not sure about how they really function that well. I see that Samurai can be ANY alignment, but they are always supposed to be HONORABLE. I see Cavaliers can also be ANY alignment, but...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

Yep, I agree with you N'raac. That's the reason I used a CG Paladin of Cayden Cailean. He'd be a pretty jovial fellow who's "hot button" issue is going to be slavery. He'll do whatever he can to free slaves, prevent slavery, and kill slavers. I could also see a NG Paladin of Gozreh who acts...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

Thanks for the response. I can see that, especially with old school gamers. We are so used to the iconic paladin who follows the letter of the law, that a non-LG Paladin could leave a bad taste in your mouth. I like to try to think outside the box with my groups and this is something that...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

Hmm I didn't realize that UA had those Paladin variants. That's good to know and I'll have to either look through my files to see if I have that book or try to buy it secondhand. As far as falling/codes with a GC Paladin - I see it being a little easier to do especially if the player reads up...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

Thanks for the responses Psi! I agree that the changes would be positive and I think it'd make playing with and playing a paladin more fun for everyone. Gone would be all those moral conundrums of what a LG Paladin is "supposed" to do in every situation where the fear of the player is that his...

Pathfinder 1E Paladin Alignments - More than just LG?

After reading and talking to other forum goers in other forums, it reminded me of a talk I had with my table about Paladins. As we all know there are a lot of different gods out there and with each god there are different tenets/codes/dogma that their followers adhere to, within their followers...

    Pathfinder 1E Skull and Shackles

I think you mean "Skull and Shackles." Sorry a bit of a pet peeve of mine, anyhow to answer your question. AP's are written with 4 players in mind with point buys of 15. So if you run 6 players then keep in mind that they will probably blow through the encounters that are pre-written and you'll...
