Why does it make no sense?

D&D 5E (2024) Conjure elemental makes no sense...

Nothing No No Both, the damage per extra level was originally 2d8 You make the save or remain restrained, though I would allow a teleport type effect, if successful break the restraint. This bit could use some clarification.

Wizards of the Coast Head Explains Benefits to D&D Franchise Model

As far as I can tell it is a feature of management change. The movie studio buying and selling is under 2 different CEOs as far as I remember. A new person comes in and reverses or partially reverses what the previous guy did, is pretty common. Especially if the company is under pressure from...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Oh! I have been on this forum for over 20 years, I can well believe that there are a lot of home brewers and world builders out there. Sounds like a great campaign.

Wizards of the Coast Head Explains Benefits to D&D Franchise Model

There is no real way to say from where we are now. Until we see somethings in action it is difficult to say that what this appears to mean to us is the same as what it means to WoTC management. Strictly speaking Exodus is not part of the D&D brand, even the ttrpg is a game based on the 5e...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Yes, no, no, I mostly run pre-published material, either campaign arcs or something stitched together from shorter adventures. We are all here to have fun, if the players do not want to go there, I am not going to force it. I am not creating art, and am in the least bit precious about the...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

A lot really depends on the kind of game being run. I suspect that a lot of the people pushing for DM authority over aspects of the pact are running some kind of home brewed game. If one is published adventures then it is possible to run an entire campaign without the nature of the pact (or the...

D&D General Why wouldn't you run a Dark Sun game?

Probably will not run it. I find aspects interesting, but I have always disliked psionics.

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

Is that the only interpretation you can make?

Does Your Game Have Random Encounters?

Not any of the called out but while I occasionally use random encounter table, I mostly play using VTT and I sometimes use Quantum Ogres. In that the party may be searching an area and I would create a list of events that could occur and pop them in in response to party actions, successes and...

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

So, then in practise, as long as they were not actively disrupting the dynamic of the more narrative players you would allow continued participation>

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

That is totally fine, you are odd one out and are the one making the decision to leave. It is largely up to the group but if a group is largely playing to the narrative and creating world details, but one is not engaging that way are they damaging the experience and if so, how? If they are...

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

Given that the English fielded Longbowmen at 10 to 1 billman in the Wars of the Roses, I am not say archery was ineffective, especially if one had a lot of them. But is was not rock paper scissors either, where archery made armour redundant, which was the impression I was getting. It may be my...

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

Armour was pretty effective, otherwise they would not have spent all that money getting it. Is part of a pretty good series on the whole subject. Now try doing it on a battlefield where people are trying to kill you. Also run 40 yards and see how long it takes. I can walk 40 yards in 26...

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

You seem to have contemplated not inviting him to your games. What exactly is he doing that is spoiling your fun?

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

Mostly because it is underrated in movies and tv. Somebody above talks about shooting for joints but in my opinion, if they are that close, they are closing in and D&D aside one cannot really shoot in melee.

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

I do not see how you can get this from what you are responding to. It appears to me as a statement that some creators work in a niche that will never support them professionally, but they can still share their work.

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

This is your and your groups choice, Do you kick him out or not? I probably would not but work around him but I accept that other groups look at matters differently.

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

Some people are not good at that stuff. They may enjoying seeing it happen but cannot really partake. May be stop trying to push him and let him do his thing.

It appears, by their testimony on other threads, to be normal for at least one of them.
