    D&D 5E (2014) 2-Hander Style and Extra Dice

Does a Vengeance Paladin re roll 1s and 2s for Smite damage and Hunter's Mark damage when using a maul?

D&D 5E (2014) Shields and Somatic Components: Will you play it "as is?"

Jer -- it really seems like VSM components are being used as a power balancing tool. Arcane gets more powerful spells generally, but they require VSM or VS, not V only. Maybe it is a Melee primary thing, as Rangers and Paladins get V only while others must use VS. Of course, it could just be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sage Advice!

I slept on it and think I understand the ruling. You can't wield a two handed weapon and cast. You can hold it in one hand, thus not yielding it, and cast a spell. Then you can hold it with both hands and start wielding it again. The kicker here is I don't think you can do all of this as a...

No worries, the night is still young! Cheers.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sage Advice!

Why even offer a blade lock option without ANY spells it can cast with a big ol blade? Rangers at least get Hunter's Mark as verbal only. Hex is VSM. Seriously?

    D&D 5E (2014) Sage Advice!

And really... Agonizing Blast applies per attack but Empowered Evocation does not on scorching ray. That is super silliness.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sage Advice!

The warlock thing is rather frustrating. I'm playing a blade lock paladin and these rulings make my life much harder. I can't believe they say yes to shield and weapon but no to two handed weapons. That is insane. A least I can burn warlock slots on smites. That is one fixed ruling and welcome...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sage Advice!

One Invocation is explicitly allowed to be retrained every time you take a warlock level.

    D&D 5E (2014) wands

What other action would you use to use a wand?

    D&D 5E (2014) wands

Okay. I didn't really think along those lines, Paraxis. Hopefully this will be clearer in the DMG.

    D&D 5E (2014) wands

I concur. Thing is, I bet they intended "Use an Object" to be the action that is used to activate a wand and only realized the effect of Cunning Action after the fact, which is why I am weary of the ruling.

Is the community treating Mearl tweets as Papal dictates?

    D&D 5E (2014) wands

I agree. Until it is errata'd Ned will be hurling bonus action magic missiles. Mearls's tweet has absolutely no foundation in the RAW.

Woot woot says Ned Took. Hello Cunning Action Magic Missiles.

    D&D 5E (2014) Ranger

At 11th level, an Envoker can spam a lot of fireballs. Nine to be precise. That is a lot of AoE. All are party friendly. All add 5 to damage. Dex save DC is 17. The area of effect is gigantic. I am guessing that most days, nine fireballs is enough AoE to count as sustainable. You also have...

    D&D 5E (2014) Hexblade (Warlock/Paladin)

Ninja'd. Warlock is the only class that doesn't penalize Melee characters for multiclassing. The level 5 invocation is available based on character level, so fighter 1, warlock 4 gets Thirsty Blade.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hexblade (Warlock/Paladin)

Not sure if you need both Proficiency in Con and Warcaster. Seems like just Warcaster would do the trick. Maybe I am being overly optimistic. For pole arms, you'll need Strength, not Dex. I went 16 str, 8 Dex. Start Paladin and you have heavy armor. Fireballs are not going to be fun.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hexblade (Warlock/Paladin)

My plan: human variant take heavy armor master at first level and athlete at fourth. Start Paladin, go Warlock for four levels, pick up Thirsting Blade (Devil's Sight for 2nd invocation), go Paladin for three levels, go Warlock for at-will Jump at level 9, go two levels of Paladin for Cha boost...

D&D 5E (2014) What do players spend their treasure on?

I highly recommend having the characters build a castle or fort. All the money makes more sense when it is plowed into an economy they care about.
