    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

Played the second session of my story-based BattleTech campaign (loosely based on the old video game, Crescent Hawks Revenge). We decided to try all of the playtest rules. This group had both brand new players and vets of the game, which will be nice for the different perspectives. Side shots...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

As I’ve been going through Daggerheart I keep thinking it has the bones of a pretty solid super hero engine, with the right new classes and domains (though the Midnight Domain already screams Batman to me). Here’s a couple secret id experiences off the top of my head: Tony Stark: “Genius...

D&D General What is your favorite d&d world's one unique thing.

Planescape is my favorite, particularly centered around Sigil with its “philosophers with clubs” and any door could take you to a place either mundane or insane. It also gives me the advantage of “checking” up on Primes like Forgotten Realms from time to time.

huh, what’s wrong with a Hunchback… oh… ohh. You seem to be missing a head there 🤯

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Yes! As we were diving into Daggerheart we were actually asking “How would you do genasi, maybe hybrid x and y?” And then we saw elemental ancestries right there on the website! We also decided you could essentially make a Slaad with hybrid Ribber and Infernis. We’re still noodling on how Gith...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

I think we’ll start a new campaign. But we did do some theory crafting how we would convert older characters as we were learning character creation.

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Answering the original question: what do I plan to do? Now that I finally got my book and have done some playtesting, I’m planning to convert my main group over. We’ve been playing in a Planescape campaign for almost 15 years; different characters but the setting itself evolves with each game...

D&D General Eberron - why don't you run it? [-]

Eberron had always been an interesting setting to read about but it just never pulled me in as a game setting. But I still wanted to give it the ol’ college try. I ran one of the premade adventures set in Sharn for our group to get a taste of it. It was a good little murder mystery one shot...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5e 2024: How does sleep deprivation work?

My eyes scanned over the thread title and read: 2024: How does sleep deprivation work? And my reply would have been, “Better than most years!” 😝

yes, Megamek is pretty great at doing straight battles. I haven’t tried it for anything else. I use roll20 when I want to run story heavy BattleTech campaigns as a GM. Then I can throw surprises and story beats at my players (suddenly, there were air strikes! Or reinforcements are here, or...

I have a pro Roll20 account, so I have a custom BattleTech sheet that I discovered some years ago. The original source of that sheet is gone now unfortunately. DM me if you want to see.

Spoilers Foundation Season 02 (Apple TV+) - SPOILERS

There was a lot I enjoyed this season, but things felt a bit rushed toward the end.

Spoilers Foundation Season 02 (Apple TV+) - SPOILERS

Ok … hmm… I think I’m still going to stick to my theory that Bayta is another decoy Mule and the real one is Magnifico, at least for now. I think after Gaal started winning against Mule1, Magnifico sacrificed him and made a new avatar with Baata. I’ll admit imy theory is probably far fetched...

Spoilers Foundation Season 02 (Apple TV+) - SPOILERS

I’m not 100% sure Bayta is the Mule either, I was thinking it was Magnifico and he just projects enough mind whammy stuff to make people think they are the Mule. The section of the last episode that kind of made me go “huh?” wad Gaal’s space action hero moment of diving out the station and...

We had to reschedule the game we were going to play Monday night… I’m sure you all know how that goes. But the group wants to give the side hit rule a real unbiased try, so after the next game we play I’ll report how it went. We don’t have as cool of setups as @payn though, since we’re all...

Yes! Between CT meltdown and ammo cook off, too many Mechs end up as piles of smoldering scrap. In the past, when I’ve done MW campaigns or story driven BattleTech games I usually only have the Mech really go up in a ball of fire with 3 specific engine crits. That makes it much more rare that...

Name an TTRPG You Really Like But Have Never Played/GMed

I also have a problem with Super Hero rpgs. I'm still searching for that one "perfect" engine that captures all the elements I want, BUT not only does it probably not exist, it's the one genre I prefer to play in as a character and not run (and I'm a quasi-forever GM), and few of the players in...

Name an TTRPG You Really Like But Have Never Played/GMed

The most recent one for me is Fabula Ultima. I bought it knowing it would probably not get played more than a 1-shot, but I’d heard good things from it, and I wanted to see how they translated the feel of something like Final Fantasy to the tabletop. Also, so many fantasy games right now are 5e...

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

Tried a short test battle with 1 friend. We just did lance v lance with 3 medium mechs from stock 3025 designs. The goal was to try out both new proposed changes. We kind of had an initial thought of “no more side hit charts to worry about, nice!”, but it became pretty apparent how frequent...
