Barsoom Tales II: Romance, Revolution and BLOODY REVENGE!!! -- COMPLETE

Frying Pan, Fire: 1 The long road to Al-Tizim, across leagues of heat-seared, featureless desert, wound at last through green fields and under spreading fruit trees, filling the air with exotic spices and the promise of cool water. Through gaps in the rows of trees the shining white walls of...

Looking back on 3.x-era d20 products: which kinds were most useful?

Some books I found massively useful over the years: Relics & Rituals I & II Monsternomicon Grim Tales Skull & Bones All of those were very handy -- the latter two more because I ran or played in campaigns that used those rulesets. The former ones got a lot of use in my Barsoom campaign setting...

    "Poaching" OGC

Apparently this is an industry filled with dummies. Who knew?

What's the most amazing start to a new campaign you've ever done?

The opening that just can't be beat. When I'm trying to explain how awesome "awesome" can actually be, I use that example. People always reply with, "Awesome."

Barsoom Tales II: Romance, Revolution and BLOODY REVENGE!!! -- COMPLETE

Interlude I The battleaxe cut off his arm, but the grim black warrior scarcely seemed to notice. He leaned into the descending weapon, ignoring his own sudden dismemberment, and his great scimitar flashed upwards. As the pale-skinned, bearded man he was fighting collapsed, clutching at his...

How to run a big scene without bogging down?

That must have been one desperate dragon. I'm just saying. Anyway, agree with PKitty, blah blah blah. I would just suggest you have one crazy unforeseen attack from each faction -- the Blue Cloaks have been preparing a ritual that will enable them to throw down a Mordenkainen's Disjunction, or...

Tell me of your True20 campaigns!

Can't argue with bento's analysis, other than to emphasize how crappily the damage rules are explained in the rulebook; it's really a disaster and I guarantee that neither you nor your players will get it first time. Once you get the hang of it, though, it gets a lot smoother. I've run a...

    Free True20 Prehistoric Bestiary

Hey folks I've put together a PDF of 25 prehistoric creatures for your True20 enjoyment. It's all fully illustrated and includes a few notes on the forthcoming DINO-PIRATES OF NINJA ISLAND campaign setting. True20 Prehistoric Bestiary Lotsa goodness! Thanks to those who volunteered their...

Barsoom Tales II: Romance, Revolution and BLOODY REVENGE!!! -- COMPLETE

They're about 5th level at this point in the story. I eschewed XP entirely for this campaign and just told them when they were levelling up. By the end of Season Two they're about 8th level, I think.

Actually, in this context, "either" is incorrect. On Barsoom, none of those states are mutually exclusive.

    Badwrongfun & unintentional elitism...

Wow, has it really been three years? Time, she flies: Well, at least we know one thing that won't change with 4e. Mary Poppins will still be practically perfect in every way.

    What's in your OGC future?

Not being an expert, I had heard that the CC licenses are really not worth very much, from a legal standpoint. Is there any reason to think that's true? Have these licenses ever been tested in a court of law?

    Player Revolt

My Barsoom players attempted a revolt early on in the campaign's life. What Triggered The Revolt? They had just endured the admittedly unpleasant adventure detailed in the beginning of my Season One Story Hour, wherein under their care, a huge number of innocent civilians were slaughtered by...

Barsoom Tales II: Romance, Revolution and BLOODY REVENGE!!! -- COMPLETE

Another Fine Mess: 17 "I don't want to die." "Nobody wants to die, Etienne." "Not everyone has as much to lose, you know. Look at me." Elena sighed and ignored her smirking half-Kishak friend. From the rooftop where they lay they could see the tail of the Kishak army slowly disappearing into...

Barsoom Tales II: Romance, Revolution and BLOODY REVENGE!!! -- COMPLETE

I had an entire folder on my Mac that was descriptions of reference books in Barsoom the players might come across. It got a lot of use, at least while Arrafin was with the party.
