WotC Seeks Unity with a New Edition

I think that was a lot of the backlash though the feeling that 4e was just an computer MMO. If they move towards 1st edition. There won't be that easy use on a computer. Mike

WotC Seeks Unity with a New Edition

I'm happy with Pathfinder but I signed up for the playtest. If there's defenses, powers and healing surges though count me out. Mike

What WotC hasnt done yet: Old Settings

I agree perhaps apart from Dragonlance that there isn't much market for a 4e hardback setting book. Fans of Dragonlance novels might buy the product for any new material that is produced. I own a few 4e books. I'm a fan of Fey/Fairy related stuff so I bought Heroes of the Feywild my first 4e...

    Have you ever played Amber?

Yeah I played like over 15 years ago twice. I was never a big Zelazny fan and I didnt care for the game. I wanted something more "traditional" ie dice lol Mike

    Bakshi's LotR with new eyes

I like the Bakshi version too. Also it was one of the first DVDs I got. And as for the Rankin Bass RotK I still love it because it adhered to the Lord of the Nazgul not actually coming into the city and Gandalf standing right at the gate when it fell to Grond. Mike

Pathfinder and 4e's love child, what I want in 5e

Guess I missed it last time. For me I can't think of another RPG system ie Champions, GURPS, 1e, Star Wars d20,2e etc at a fantasy game "level" absent magic, regeneration or "natural" ie body rest/surgery that allows a character to recover lost health/hit points own their own. I'm not talking...

    Top 5 Sales - Q3 2011 Analysis

hi It would be interesting to see a better break down of the demographics of Pathfinder and D&D. I still think that D&D attracts of older gamers from in store play or just the name. Mike

    D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook working on 5E?

I think it will probably come out next year. I think its a valid assumption that Monte is working on 5e. Mike

Pathfinder and 4e's love child, what I want in 5e

I agree that a lot of the issues with 4e that "smack" of a computer game, ie the need for a battlemat, the automatic healing, the need to use minis. (at least these are the issues for me) need to be changed to handle the market split. Most of us apart from maybe Morrus or WOTC employees aren't...

Pathfinder and 4e's love child, what I want in 5e

That works for me. Also like of like the feat "Step up" in Pathfinder. I like the wound/vitality approach for "modern" games like d20 Modern and Star Wars. I think it would work in D&D. But the standard hit point system to me along with the Vancian magic system has been one for the hallmarks of...

Pathfinder and 4e's love child, what I want in 5e

Those and the "powers" and saves as defenses are my biggest gripes against 4e. I agree that 5e shouldn't have the "dead" level issue but if healing surges and the "powers" systems are included then I won't purchase the products. The "automatic" healing smacks of an computer game to me. I can't...

New Star Trek TV Series In Development

It didn't say who David Foster was? My first reaction is..does he have the clout to pull this off? And as much as I dislike Rick Berman some of his "crew" like Manny Coto did a great job on Enterprise. And would be good to have along in some fashion. Mike
