    After some thought...

This about sums up my concerns also. It seems people are coming up with house rules already. In the days leading up to the release of 3e, people were not developing house rules. I have very few house rules for 3.5. If after trying 4e I find that I have more house rules, well I guess I'll...

    Tactical Boardgame?

I started around then also. But I didn't use miniatures. I used lead figures :) I also didn't buy adventures I bought modules.

    My take.

I also do not like the auto-skill advancement. In 3/3.5 I enjoyed picking a skill or two that were unusual to help define my character.

    My take.

Reminds me of the time I was DMing RttToEE. There are a bunch of 1st lvl guards in the dungeon in several locations. Practically they are just cannon fodder, but they each have a potion of cure light wounds. On one occasion one of the guards survived an attack by a 7th level Rogue and a...

Rituals : What We Know And What We Hope

I think it will be like the magic creation rules for 3e; but encompass things besides just creating magic items. Probably have a monetary value, maybe an xp penalty (although I doubt it), and hopefully some suggested special ingredients that were needed. Wasn't there something about monster...

    Falling Damage?

an ancient 1e Dragon article had falling damage as... 1d20 per 10 ft diveded by 1d6. So 20 ft would be 2d20 / 1d6 30 ft 3d20 / 1d6 60 ft 6d20 / 1d6 Which gives about the same average as 1d6 per 10 ft but with a progressively smaller chance to do a lot of damage. I switched back in 1e, have...

    Kobold Inconsistancy

I agree. Would it really have been so hard for them to be consistent and have a logical breakdown for stuff like this? Oh..... wait they tried that with 3e and the math was too hard for them. I liked the rules based consistency of the 3e monster. I really wish they had taken some math...

Camping: It does a body good!

eh, poison was taken care of with ability damage in 3e. touch attacks you just shake it off cause your a hero. You are correct about falling damage, thats why my house rule for falling damage is... 1d20 per ten ft divided by 1d6. This results in about the same average as 1d6 per ten ft, but...

    State of Gleemax: Patch-Dark-Done?

By resources I mean people, time, and money. WOTC only has so much of each and they are releasing 3 new products at the same time. DDM may be complimentary, but there is still a lot of work to do, and making it complimentary requires work in itself. For DI to be truly effective they are going...

    State of Gleemax: Patch-Dark-Done?

IMO they should not have a public alpha. When was the last time WOTC produced a quality software product for D&D? I think we have to go back to the Dragon archive CD, and that was just an archive. The 3e character generator was terrible and that was supposed to be a preview for Master Tools...

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

dang 18 pages. I'm gonna laugh if the new 1-1-1 diag movement change only applies to DDM (which after all has a lower min age on the box).

    The relevance of house rules

I took alignments out, or at least greatly simplified them, and had very few problems. I just had good, evil and nuetral. Removed all spells, special abilities, domains etc that relied on law chaos and didn't have any problems in a campaign from 4th - 14th lvl.

OGL To Be Renamed Game System License (GSL)

I hate to say it, because I don't want this to happen, the easiest way to prevent a cut-and-paste SRD on the internet is to require a fee for use of the license and a right to refuse the license. A $1k - $5 k license fee will keep individuals out of this game. Of course then people will band...

Finished Red Hand of Doom (spoilers)

Yup, RAW you can't use wands in silence zones. But I have long since allowed wands to be a think and point based deal that works in a silence zone. This greatly negates the the Ubernes of silence. There are several unhallowed areas in RttToEE. Can't remember if any are tied to silence. But...

But this baby will take you from 1-30 in half the time!

Why not just say... Why don't you run a 4e game? I assume you play weekly. You could alternate weeks between the two games.
