    D&D 4E Weapon variety in 4E

Reach weapon works good with the monk. You don't sacrifice the closest 5 ft, because the monk can use unarmed kicks at this range.

    Design & Development: Halflings [merged]

This is something that I really didn't understand, especially with 3e. LoTR was coming out and they decide to remove "chubby" and "hairy feet" as descriptors for halflings.

A worry about "special case monster abilities"

I agree with the original post. I don't like monsters having special attacks/defenses that a PC could conceivably learn. If its something like meat shield, flind bar, or a the sticky shield of a Kuo-Toa; then a PC should be able to learn the special ability. They should sacrifice a feat...

D&D 4E Interesting Article on OGL and 4E

Yes, I think this weighs heavily on WOTC's minds. The online SRD was meant for publishers. However, with the OGL and the internet, anyone can be a publisher. I think WOTC is going to try to drive as many people as possible to DDI. They don't want every gaming group to have its own website...

I am forseeing problems with feats

I agree with this. I didn't like how Eberron did AP. I also don't like needing a feat and an action point to do something. IMO an AP alone should be able to do it. Codeifying APs and what they can do complicates and slows down the game. I would much rather have just a few APs but they...

D&D 4E WotC_Rodney: 4ed "take only what you want" monster design good

I don't know if i will be good or bad. But I expect a big reason for a less codified approach is because WOTC had such a hard time making monsters the correct way by the rules.

    Fan-made material impossible until 2009?

I think you are correct. Most likely someone could fly under the radar with a small site. But once you get popular or if you are an established company, WOTC lawyers will come knocking. Although I believe fair use would be legal in most cases. It still would not stop them from litigation. I...

    Fan-made material impossible until 2009?

Hah, just posted about this very problem in the GR thread. I do think it will be a problem. When 3e first came out there was a lot of fan created material that was collected and linked from Eric's site. It would seem that any site (other than Gleemax) that attempts to collect and collate...

    D&D 4E Green Ronin's Pramas blogs on 4e or not 4e

If I decide to go to 4e I hope GR also does. This $5000 sneak peak and the moratorium on people publishing for a certain amount of time if they don't pay is going to hurt the 4e launch. If any of you remember when 3e first came out there was a whole bunch of fan created material, heck I was...

WotC_PeterS talks about his "aggresive playtest" (with Le Rouse, SKR, & Noonan)

    1) The fact that 3e got a lot of play testing 2) There was a much longer time from when 3e was anounced to when it was published. 3) When 3e was anounced there was already a considerable amount of testing done. 4) They are saying they are not done with the system yet.

WotC_PeterS talks about his "aggresive playtest" (with Le Rouse, SKR, & Noonan)

Yeah, thats how I read it. I haven't been following 4e news that closely. But it seems to have been tested less than 3e.

    D&D 4E Positive Aspects of 4E

Yes, these are all good things. However, a lot of these are 'goals' of 4e. Until we get the whole package we will not know how well these goals have been met.

Digital miniatures to be converted to plastic miniatures?

Well, 3D printers have come a long way. For example I have seen the following made: Screw and nut that work chain (all the links were together) - very cool

    D&D 4E Scale and facing in 4e?

Actually what I meant by facing was the amount of 'space' a creature used for combat.

    D&D 4E Scale and facing in 4e?

The big question I have is will scale and facing be the same in 4e as 3.5e? Anyone know if these will change in 4e?

    [Gleemax]Another thing not to like.

Why does WOTC need to 'protect' themselves? I don't see the need at all. If they develop something independently then they can use it w/o any moral or legal fears. So why this 'extra' language. If I discuss a rule or an idea on Gleemax, why can't I publish it on my own web site? If I link...

    Tact-Tiles?

This is wet erase but it sectional lke tact-tiles. Lowes has 10" x 8" tiles of lexan/plexiglass. Get a thin permanent marker and make squares on one side. I also got some felt tabs from Lowes and put them on this side. On the other side you can use wet-erase markers. It will end up being...
