Again, I cannot emphasise enough that kobolds aren't fey or even fey-adjacent in the book. It's an error in the interview.

They don't have any connection to the Feywild mentioned in Monsters of the Multiverse. I expect this is a misquote or a mistake made during the interview. Goblinoids (and Changelings) are the ones whose origins were changed to explicitly fey.
