    D&D 5E (2024) This Dragon Art Is From The 2024 Player's Handbook

I assume you are joking, that dragon has all of the trappings of a silver since the 3e redesign.

    D&D 5E (2024) This Dragon Art Is From The 2024 Player's Handbook

I have always believed that is one of Elmore's worst D&D paintings

D&D 5E (2014) Where Does The Multiversal Vecna: Eve of Ruin Visit?

It seems pretty clear that this is the basic approach by WotC. They want to introduce a setting, but let those who are interested dive to the history themselves.

D&D 5E (2014) Where Does The Multiversal Vecna: Eve of Ruin Visit?

Possibly. I am interested what they do with Tiamat as in RoT she was a CR30 lesser deity and then by the time of Fizban's she is no longer a deity (but with the power of one) and her "aspect" has a CR30 with the Mythic Trait (CR30 x2). I guess Vecna is interesting too as the official 5e stat...

D&D 5E (2014) Quests From The Infinite Staircase, Deep Dive

I also want to clarify that I am not anti-AI. My son study CS and machine learning in school and is starting a job in the field working on AI this fall. So I get, and agree, that it is a useful tool. I just don't think your particular application of it was very useful. It did a poor job...

D&D 5E (2014) Quests From The Infinite Staircase, Deep Dive

Depends on your perspective. The AI synopsis didn't generate much interest in the product; however, after watching the video a plan to purchase it. So, at least from WotC perspective, time (watching the video) well spent!

D&D 5E (2014) Quests From The Infinite Staircase, Deep Dive

Not to everyone. Just like watching a video at 1.5x or 2x doesn't necessarily save you time if it impacts your comprehension

D&D 5E (2014) Where Does The Multiversal Vecna: Eve of Ruin Visit?

I am pretty sure it was mentioned that Tiamat is a part of the adventure, but only off screen. No direct interaction with her

I disagree: minor changes = minor update IMO

Dragonlance [Let's Read] Tasslehoff's Pouches of Everything Revised

I was not talking about the WotC core books. I'm talking about a DMs Guild PDF. If the author / publisher of a DMsGuild product updates the PDF and you purchased the original PDF, you get a notification to download the updated PDF for free. My point is, if any changes to Tasslehoff's Pouches...

Dragonlance [Let's Read] Tasslehoff's Pouches of Everything Revised

Close, here is the release schedule: 2024 Player’s Handbook – September 17, 2024 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide – November 12, 2024 2024 Monster Manual – February 18, 2025 However, if you get this now or later should make much of a difference. Things aren't changing much. Also, if you just get...

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

As I mentioned elsewhere, that is basically what we do (and like) as well. However, I am all for the game having options for more or less rules for those who want them. Now, my next question: Do you, or would you, except the same approach for combat that you just described for a social encounter?

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

I feel like I am going in circles a bit so I may have miss-spoke somewhere, but I don't think I ever advocated a social combat system that reward talkers on top of the social combat system mechanics.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

So again, it return to the fact that this is a "D&D General" thread. I don't think it is about specific edition rules, but what could be and what you would like to see. So, I guess my question to you is - what would you like to see. As I have already noted I would like to a range of rules on...

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

Of course that is precisely what you are doing by not having some degree of social combat rules. As a reminder, this is my original post on this thread (post #53): "Ideally I would like to see three options implemented, even if we (my group) would only use option 3: Social combat rules: Rules...

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

Why don't you take the same approach to social situations?

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

Well this is tagged "D&D General" so I wasn't constraining myself to a specific interpretation of D&D To be clear, are you advocating that player narration can affect social encounter rolls and out comes for the characters? Are you also suggesting this doesn't mess up the mechanical balance of...
  20. Uni-the-Unicorn!

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

You can play that why. However, if you allow narration to affect social rolls, why not allow it to affect combat rolls. We have, in fact, played where our narration matters. The typical result of good combat narration is advantage on an attack or damage (roll damage twice and take higher). I...
