You perfectly encapsulated why these guys are one of my favourite monsters!!

I feel that the rakshasa perhaps wouldn't be as iconic of a monster now if not for the quality of this piece. It really conveys "scheming yet sophisticated man-eating monster" well.

Tony Diterlizzi's Shadow fiend/demon remains the gold standard for that monster's art, in my mind. His Planescape art defines the setting so well.

This plant monster might be the same as the one depicted on pg. 35 of the new DMG! I wonder what the light beams coming from the eye flowers are. Beholder related, perhaps?
