Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

My theory is that every time someone gets transported, their traumatic memories get cleaned up and sanitized.

Things Said That Stop the Game Dead in its Track

I just imagine the Be Our Guest scene from Beauty and the Beast but everything is made of weird flesh.

Things Said That Stop the Game Dead in its Track

Back in 3rd Edition we would get incredibly sidetracked talking about the spell Stone to Flesh. "The spell also can convert a mass of stone into a fleshy substance. Such flesh is inert and lacking a vital life force unless a life force or magical energy is available. (For example, this spell...

When you play in person, where do you play? (Poll)

I'm a forever DM who is really struggling to put together a new D&D (or other RPG) group after moving to Atlanta three years ago. Part of it is the struggle of trying to schedule anything while also having a three year old child. Part of it is that we live in a pretty tiny house with no sound...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running the shortest game?

For a casual 2 hour game I'd start at the end of the adventure. Narrate how they've breached the fortress walls, fought through the orc and goblin guards, and broke through to the tomb of a legendary necromancer. They see a big obsidian throne with the skeleton of the necromancer sitting on it...

D&D General Whom keeps the torches lit?

Lil' gnomes. They come out through holes in the wall after the adventurers to light the torches and sweep away the dead bodies.

Itch.io is shadowbanning or deleting NSFW and LGBTQ content

It is funny to me that games about sex or naked people are being demonized while plenty of popular games provide a million opportunities to hit, shoot, and slice up opponents. Booooo nudity! Yay violence!

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

On the subject of the supernatural, I think belief is baked into human cognition. I think evolution has given us an insatiable curiosity to go over the next hill, try eating something weird, investigate why something works... But there's a limit to how much we can truly understand. So we fill...

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

I think there's a difference between discussing beliefs ("Oh, you believe that? Tell me more. What led you to those beliefs? Have you thought about this? I differ because of this...") and trying to prove someone's beliefs are wrong ("What is your proof? Don't you realize it's actually... That's...

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

I think it's pretty harmless for folks to believe in ghosts, even if I have absolutely no faith in the supernatural. Thinking you will be able to change someone's beliefs through posting on a D&D forum is pretty out there, though.

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

I do not, in the least. But I know there are a lot of folks out there who believe because it gives them comfort or it's part of their belief system or they just really enjoy ghost stories! So I try not to yuck anyone's ghostly yum.

D&D General Plants (and Fungi) that should be in your D&D Campaign!

What I find fascinating about the most recent fungus I posted about is that it activates at sundown. First off, it's just an amazing example of how cool nature is. But secondly the idea of a monstrous infection activating in the dark would make for a great D&D threat.

D&D General Plants (and Fungi) that should be in your D&D Campaign!

We're back! (Photo credit: sciencenews.com) E Muscae is a fungus that infects flies and always kills them at sundown. The infected fly climbs a high plant and glues its mouthparts to the stem. Then at sundown it opens its wings and dies. There's a theory that the fungus always kills at...
