    GMs: When Is Enough Enough?

The 6 session minimum kind of happened by accident. I’m the forever DM of the group and was going through a phase where I wanted to try a bunch of different stuff. My players got frustrated. When I asked the minimum number games should be per game they all said 6. So that’s what we go with...

    GMs: When Is Enough Enough?

We have a 6 session minimum rule for games. One shots aside we can typically tell within 6 session whether a game is going to work, needs house rules for us, or if we need to bail. It also gives my players time with their characters. We might have to house rule something if we find it...

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Deadlands & Blood Drive VTT modules. I’m starting a Blood Drive campaign Wednesday night. The Savage Worlds Foundry implementation is good adding the Blood Drive and Deadlands core modules is going to make my prep-life easier.

Just backed Blades in the Dark: Deep Cuts on Backerkit and Astra Arcanum on Kickstarter. PDF only. I have my sickness under control.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

This made me go check and see if I had one…not quite there yet but I’ve got about 5 more I’ve got in saved status to follow up on. There’s still hope for me!

For those who don't play D&D (or its clones), what keeps you engaged with EN World?

Most of what others have said. But I would add the quality of conversation here is higher than what I see on Reddit. And I really, really like the moderation that keeps this place from becoming a cesspool like so many others. I prefer old school forums to discord. I hate the discord format...

What time would you play an evening online 3 hour game session mid to long term?

A Friday night 7/8-12 session would be fantastic. Four solid hours with a break and some social time. Sometimes my 7-10 session doesn’t feel like it has room to breathe. And if you get sidetracked that three hour slot disappears quickly.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Does 40k count? I’ve started a Blood Angels army, which has eaten into available ttrpg fundage significantly. Or to paraphrase Robin Williams, cocaine is a cheaper habit…

What time would you play an evening online 3 hour game session mid to long term?

7-10 is what we play. If we run a little over 10:30 isn’t too late. Once you start getting towards midnight on a school night it gets tough.

D&D 5E (2014) If you could run or play in any D&D 5e campaign right now, which would it be?

I’ve been reading Dungeons of Drakkenheim to run it at some point. It scratches an itch for me. I’ve always wanted to run a Pools of Radiance type game and this fits. Empire of the Ghouls is another 5e campaign I’ve been looking at, with an eye towards running.

    What Are Your Non-Gaming Hobbies/Interests?

Woodworking mostly, I like to build furniture. Mostly with hand tools. Travel when I can. Hopefully be able to do more after this year when I catch some things up. I’m a music listener. Lots of genres. I wish I could play but I’ve never learned an instrument. I also have three German...

How Much Do You Care About Form Factor/Book Size?

Same. I’ve skipped a couple simply because of the size difference.

How Much Do You Care About Form Factor/Book Size?

12.9 inch iPad. It’s glorious. I use it for reading away from a computer. I do most of my prep at my desk with three monitors. One of which is flipped vertically just to make using PDFs more convenient.

How Much Do You Care About Form Factor/Book Size?

When I started running a lot of Savage Worldds the physical size was a turn- off. Now I prefer it. Books that size, Crown&Skull, BitD, Shadowdark, etc all fit in my hand easier these days. As a physical product my favorite is probably Crown and Skull. Black and white, looks smythe sewn...

Best toolbox RPG to start with?

Different toolboxes for different outcomes. GURPS is my go to for simulationist, or gritty, grounded games. Savage Worlds is my go to for action, pulp, and most adventure games. If I were looking for a narratives toolbox I’d grab FATE. I can’t grok Cortex but some folks like it. I’m...

D&D 5E (2014) What Paizo Adventures (Paths or otherwise) Have You Run in 5E

I think book 5 works better if you can convince your players it’s a raid for the mcguffin and not a clear the dungeon situation.

D&D 5E (2014) What Paizo Adventures (Paths or otherwise) Have You Run in 5E

I think it depends on what of campaign you want to run. Rise of the Runelords is fairly traditional D&D type fair. Shattered Star is Pathifinder’s version of a megadungeon in some respects. Second Darkness has a ton of great ideas in it, but is a hot mess on execution. If you’re doing a...

Desert Island RPGs (or which RPGs would you play for the rest of your life?)

Pathfinder 1e SWADE Blades in the Dark One of OSE or Shadowdark WHFRP 4e Dark Heresy 1e Numenera GURPS Luxury item: dice Bonus book: Halls of Arden Vul or Rappan Athuk. A big fat megadungeon with tons of replay ability.

    Choosing a new campaign

I’ve got both and either would work great depending on how detailed you want to get. Mixing and matching them would also work.
