    True20 and Modern Games

True 20 does not split the roles this way though. True 20 Roles are actually designed along the lines of a classless system. The idea is that the roles have very little impact on the actual concept that one creates with them. Instead, they ensure mechanical balance for those who specialise in...

    True20 and Modern Games

True 20 Experts cover all skills not just those relating to intelligence. In D20, this includes all charisma based skills. My own opinion is that if you have no FX then you only need the 2 roles Warrior and Expert. In fact, I would even look at going with just the Expert and creating 5 combat...

Vitality Damage and Damage-based Special Attacks

That is how it works in SW IIRC. The fact you take Vitality Point damage (rather than Wounds) is inherently the thing that lessens the effect of the attack and has the effect you are looking for.

    Eberron True 20

Unequal stat adjustments are OK if they get other benefits to counter this. Otherwise I agree. It would be simple enough to change these to suit True 20.

    Eberron True 20

I intend to do it, though I am in the process of getting a copy of Eberron at the moment, so I am going from memory. I have read through Eberron and know the basics but full d20 discouraged me from proceeding at the time. Your comments on Dragon marks look cool. I will think on it. As for the...

    True 20 -- races/backgrounds?

That's cool. I am currently tackling all these porblems myself and I am happy with how easy True 20 is to modify for things like new races and also slightly different concepts like Jedi.

    Eberron True 20

Magic items is a number one concern, but I think True 20 deals with it. My hope is to strip the Artificer's class abilities as new Adept only feats. Personally, I find the D&D magic item system too complex. In True 20, all magic item creation is a Craft Skill check by someone with the Imbue...

    Eberron True 20

Armied with True 20, I am now considering looking at Eberron. It seems like it would be a simple conversion. Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? True 20 is easy to plug into any D20/OGL setting that does not have setting specifics focussed on or contained in classes or magic, as True...

    True 20 -- races/backgrounds?

True 20 does away with the Favoured Skill distinction. I think in practice most Known Skills were also Favoured and the multi-roling rules were unnecessarily complex as a result. Now all skills are just 3 + level. So background "favoured skills" don't work. As mentioned, True 20 is actually set...

    True 20 -- races/backgrounds?

In BR, each background granted bonuses and abilities as normal, included Favoured Feats (non-general feats accessible to that background) and Favoured Skills (no longer relevant in True 20). As a result of the changes this method is not as useful as the normal d20 one. In fact True 20 can use...

    True20 system released by itself

GR has just announced a True 20 setting search in which the winning settings will be added to the back of the True 20 print version, as well as a royalty free license to use True 20 for that setting. So there will be a print version but it is someway off. BR uses the True 20 system. However...

    True20 system released by itself

I expected there to be very little different but there are a few changes and "clean ups". There is not BR setting material. It is only 96 pages long. I listed a bunch of the bigger ones (I think they are pretty big) in my previous thread, so I won't repeat them. Overall, the system is even...

    True20 system released by itself

Wow! True 20 is impressive. It is even slicker and streamlined than BR with many "bumps" removed. This is the first truly generic lite d20 system (sorry guys BESM d20 doesn't count). Some highlights: - Attack and Defence bonus are now combined into a single Combat bonus that applies to attack...

Anyone excited about A Game Of Thrones RPG?

It seems to be pretty good so far. Low HP increases, high Defence progression (close to BAB) and Armour as Damage Reduction. The book is 496 pages large with 100 pages devoted to rules and 400 to setting. It will also be OGL so no need for PHB etc.

The secrets behind the Engel RPG

Some basic stuff is http://www.white-wolf.com/engelweb/ehtml/. The game's open secret is also very very cool and sells the game to most people. However, I do caution that the d20 ruleset conversion is one of the worst available. True 20 as seen in Blue Rose would be a simple and effective fix IMO.

The secrets behind the Engel RPG

It is set a few hundreds year in the future and is post-apocalyptic. However, rather than Gamma World, the world has regressed into a medieval state. The Church is pretty much all powerful as Angels have returned. The Angels are the few that are capable of fighting against the Dreamseed...

The secrets behind the Engel RPG

I bought it, loved the setting and hated the rules and sold it. Unfortuantely, Blue Rose would be an almost perfect rule set for it with its open classes and Arcana system. All you would need to do is change the different types of Angels into Backgrounds. Gah! It would be so easy :(

[Black Company] Mental Effects of War

Sort of in that the mechanics are similar. However, I always viewed VP in SW to be dramatic immunity than "Morale". The mechanics are the same but the narrative spin is different. It may sound petty but I think have a clean understanding of mechanics can make the narration all that much better.
