Your top 5 movie trilogies of all time, and why?

Leaving out the Marvel movies because they are not really a trilogy, but a bunch of movies, with some great, and some not so great. Alien(s): The first 2 are so good they make up for the third Star Wars LoTR The Dark Knight Trilogy Indiana Jones

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

Rather than give a reason for each, I think the same reasons can apply blanket wide for all ;). I understand a lot of this has to do with nostalgia and how old I was when I was exposed to them (I don't think anyone would objectively say they are the best). But I found all of them extremely...

D&D General Favorite Creepy Monster To Run?

It's hard to pick one. Rot Grubs? Green Slimes (terrifying in 1e)? Level draining undead? Gas Spore? Molds? Violet fungi? So much to choose from.

D&D General Favorite Creepy Monster To Run?

One of the monsters that strikes fear into low level parties more than any other I also enjoy the use of carrion crawlers.

D&D 5E (2024) Pact Of Chain Warlock is really powerful now.

You brought up a dead thread to post this?

D&D 5E (2024) Feywild technically doesn't mention the Seelie and Unseelie Court

If we're going by folklore (of which the Seelie and Unseelie are pulled from*), Bugbears are nothing like the D&D version. They are this: * The origin of the Seelie Court comes from the Scottish Lowlands (McPherson, 1929). Queen Úna and King Finnbheara rule it from Cnocmeadha. Cailleach (known...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Great Wizard Extinction.

All wizards can cast ritual spells without using prepared slots, and all can change out cantrips every long rest. Those are two hugely impactful things.

    D&D 5E (2024) The Great Wizard Extinction.

Just saw the thread, haven't read all 300 posts. But I'll just say that I'm currently playing a 2024 Illusionist right now, and I can't help but notice how when I started in 1e back in 1981, Illusionists were awful. Now they are probably one of the most powerful wizard subclasses. They've...

    Spoilers Peacemaker Season 2 (Spoilers)

Granted, I haven't seen any of the monsters in that new world, but compared to what I'm seeing here, can we volunteer to go?

    Spoilers Peacemaker Season 2 (Spoilers)

It's the Kyphotic Alien ;) (maybe the monster in the new dimension is one of those cats that grows up, and the alien has been killing them before they turn into monsters?) I'm joking.

    AD&D 2E AD&D 2e without the verbiage?

Same. I don't think of 3e as an extension of 2e because 3e added a lot more complexity and numbers bloat went out of control. Which is weird for me to say, because 3e seems like the very obvious extension of 2e's Skills and Powers lol. Specialty priests, spell schools, thief skill progression...

    AD&D 2E AD&D 2e without the verbiage?

Working on something similar, actually. The threads recently about 1e, the fighter, and problems with RAW got me thinking. That, and every week I’m part of a group of games played at a local bar/store and I see most people want to play shadowdark over ADnD because it’s so much easier to play...

    AD&D 2E Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play AD&D 2E? How Was/Is It?

Those existed in 1e (To Hit AC 0 was in the DMG and non-weapon proficiencies were books like the Survival Guides). But 2e really codified them and made them easier.
