Just caught up on the last couple of updates - very enjoyable, as always. Loved the beholder encounter. As for splitting the party ... it's not like anything bad ever happens when you do that :rolleyes:

Also a quick mention for "Beck" - another Swedish cop show. Not as dark as some, but not exactly cosy either.

My favourite Wallander series are the ones starring Krister Henriksson - but that's probably just because I saw those first, so he is Wallander for me (I've not read any of the books). The Branagh ones are pretty, but somehow not "right" - probably because they're not in Swedish.

Not nordic, and possible not really "noir" in the usual cinematic sense, but I highly recommend the French series "Spiral" ("Engrenages" in the original) about cops (and the legal system in general) in Paris. Eight series of murder, drugs and corruption.

Well once Newt's school of pyromania, sorry magic, is up and running, I reckon the dwarves will at least be relegated to public enemy no.2.
