D&D 5E (2014) Varient Monster in a Third Party Published Adventure

So I'm working on an adventure where I want to use slight variations on standard OGL monster manual monsters. For example giving goblins an alchemist fire attack. In cases like these how would you like to see the variant included? My two main ideas are a sidebar that just includes the new...

D&D 5E (2014) Back to DnD after 12 years break. DM-ing questions thread.

Is this the SRD you're looking at? http://media.wizards.com/2016/downloads/DND/SRD-OGL_V5.1.pdf It says plate for armor.

D&D 5E (2014) Back to DnD after 12 years break. DM-ing questions thread.

There's no shield to drop. 18 AC is all from plate, if you want to add a shield it would be up to 20. They already had parry in my copy, but fun fact I just looked up, WOTC removed it in later printings. http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/errata-may-2016 I haven't run it, but as printed...

D&D 5E (2014) Back to DnD after 12 years break. DM-ing questions thread.

A couple of small things: Are you including the short sword attack from their multiattack? Parry is a nice ability when paired with an already high AC.

    Which system to use?

That was my first thought too. Here are a few reasons why: There is a lot in common D&D so it will be easy to pick up. It has a 1st edition feel with modern design ideas. It's more lethal than D&D, and I believe survival horror stops being survival horror if nobody ever dies. Use the a 0-level...

    I'm sick of Kickstarters

Here's a secret: You can completely ignore Kickstarter campaigns. If they campaign is successful the product generally comes on in normal stores after it's complete. Just pay attention to the stores you always used to.

Golarion vs Eberron -- Which is more "progressive"?

One reasons it's hard to compare is that Golarion is such a "not Earth" setting, that you have to be always of the real world cultural equivalents. Eberron is further removed from our own world, so it can be more laid back about things.

2d6 vs TN greater then 12

I assume PCs can have bonuses to their rolls. The odds of success will depend on the bonus. Subtract the bonus from the TN, and then figure out the odds for that. I.E. If they have a +2, to hit a 13 they need to get and 11 on the dice, which would be 3/36.

    Fantasy RPG without levels?

Savage Worlds is another that seems to fit the bill.

Has any game ever made the jump from Kickstarter to mass market?

I think what you're thinking of is more a small-press phenomenon than a Kickstarter specific thing. Kickstarter just makes it easier for small-press operations to get noticed.

Deadlands Noir - How is it?

I've read it but haven't played. It seems like a good setting. I'm not super familiar with Tales of Adventure, but in general the noir genre tends to be darker than pulp (hence the name). Heroes tend to be more flawed and situations are more ambiguous. There's more trying to survive and get by...

Why Aren't Designers Using The GUMSHOE System?

I think the reason is that Gumshoe is specifically targeted at running investigations, while I feel that something like Fate or World have a lot more options. If the designer wants to create a game that's anything other than weekly investigations, they are probably not going to use Gumshoe to do it.

It's positive, but I'm more concerned about hotel space than event space.

Kickstarter Drakonheim: City of Bones Kickstarter Campaign has Begun!

Thanks! The short campaign length is a bit of an experiment. A big part of it is because Kickstarter campaigns always slow down in the middle, so I wanted to see what happened when you shortened it, and also the funding goal was relatively small, so I figured it didn't need a super long campaign.
