    D&D 5E (2024) The 4 Classes I Would Not Play 1-20 In 5.5

Wizard being on this list is certainly ... a take. Wizard is still the best full caster in 2024, and it still isn't close. Rituals you can cast directly out of your spellbook without preparing the spell and being able to switch out your spells every day will always be king.

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

How has it been disruptive? You keep repeating this claim but you never give any examples or analyses. The only way I can see it being "disruptive" is if you're one of those killer DMs who was upset you couldn't CC the Fighter out of commission. Which, by the way, you couldn't really do that...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

It's your word against plenty of people who have broken down how bad 2014 Monks are, especially in tier 3 and 4. If I hadn't played a 2014 Monk for myself at that level and found it every bit as unpleasant as their analyses suggested, then I'd still take their word over yours any day.

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

Flurry of Blows is the Monk's main damage feature, regardless of level. Stunning Strike is the Monk's main control feature, regardless of level. Both of them, in 2014, suck. And the 2014 Monk gets NOTHING at higher levels to make up for how bad those fall off in their respective capacities...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

Mercy was the only one I found decent. And proficiency in all saves was nice, but wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the class being as deficient as it was. 2014 Monks just did no damage at those higher levels, and Stunning Strike was less reliable because enemy CON saves scaled so high at...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

Well your opinion isn't practical. Nobody normal cares that an ability violates your sacred bounded accuracy. People do care that an ability is overly disruptive to gameplay, however and for whatever reason that ability ends up being that way. And in no way is an auto-save on some (not all) of...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

I'm gonna say that's BS. It doesn't win there even in white room math, let alone actual gameplay. The 2014 Monk sucked. It has been proven countless times to suck. This is not a battle you are going to win. It's settled. Been settled.

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

So I see you have a very narrow definition of what is broken or not in this game. Just because something defies bounded accuracy doesn't mean that thing is broken. And conversely, some of the most broken things in the game are broken for reasons that have nothing to do with bounded accuracy...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

This is 100% inaccurate. The 2014 Monk lagged even further behind in tier 3 and 4. Why do you think the 2024 version of the class buffed Flurry of Blows to 3 attacks at level 10? Because it literally fell off a cliff in 2014 at around that point.

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

Well now we see the problem. Your sense of what is strong and what is not is rather off base. Monks were almost universally regarded as the weakest class in 2014.

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

War Cleric got +10 to hit with an attack at level 2. And at level 6 could give that +10 to any other ally instead. That's more out of bounds much earlier in the game. Really? At the same level Wizards are casting Wish and Meteor Swarm or turning into adult dragons, and Clerics are healing the...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

Plenty of spells and features in 2014 broke bounded accuracy. God forbid the Fighter finally get a feature that does. Which leads to my next point: there are and have always been things in 5e that are intentionally designed to break bounded accuracy. And there is nothing wrong with that when...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Fighter Best Eince 2E

People hating the 2024 Indomitable are just being contrarian for the sake of it. Their complaints just feel so forced. The 2014 version of it was worthless, let's be real about that. You usually ended up rerolling a save you had little to no chance of succeeding in the first place, and 2014...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

2024's changes are improvements over 2014 in every way. But they're not always enough of an improvement. And some things it needed to improve on it did not. I give it a 7. 2014 would've gotten a 6.

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

Which is kinda funny because Imoen was really rather underdeveloped and underwritten compared to the rest of the BG2 cast (everyone was underdeveloped in BG1), especially in Shadows of Amn, despite her being central to the plot. She gets somewhat more development in Throne of Bhaal but it's...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

Most of us prefer discussing possibilities that are more optimistic while still being in the realm of realistic, but sadly this does remain the most likely scenario at the moment.

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

I'd add inXile to this list. Solid track record of CRPGs with its Bard's Tale reboot, Torment: Tides of Numenera, and Wasteland 2 and 3 (especially Wasteland 3). Like Obsidian, owned by Microsoft now which has its advantages and disadvantages. Clockwork Revolution, while it's venturing out of...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I don't. But I can't imagine needing a grid to model such things as hampering an enemy from closing in on you or pushing an enemy away so it doesn't threaten one of your allies anymore.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

They're not useless at all in TotM. A longbow inflicting slow in TotM means the enemy is going to have a tougher time closing in to melee with you. Pushing an enemy away in TotM may give an ally a chance to back away and not draw an opportunity attack it may have otherwise.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I'm all in on them, warts and all. It literally takes 3 more seconds to resolve mastery effects once you get the hang of them. I do not understand those who say it slows combat down.
