Seriously. This is a game, you shouldn't be having fun, darn it! I second the suggestion to play the straight man. You could even play up the party's humor by having some NPCs mention how "out of place" it seems. And, you know, I never played the original or anything, but I can't really see...

Not so. My longest running game (1st-18th) had a party who couldn't die. Well, they could die, they would return to life after an hour or so with a tiny XP penalty. That game certainly wasn't boring. Just because you can't die doesn't mean that other people you care about won't die, or you won't...

I hope Fiery Dragon or another company puts out a 4th Edition set of creature counters. Those are what we use currently, and we couldn't be happier. (Well, actually we could. Do we really need this many owls? Are they some kind of major monster in your games?)

Yeah, trying to "confiscate" any kind of book would pretty much be a walking issue for me. I mean, my group hates the people who don't know the rules. And you're trying to encourage this?

The big problem with me in high level play (I've ran a game that ended at 18th, and one high level 15th-20th game) is creating high level NPCs. A lot of work.

Halfling Warlock, for my first 4e character. Cocky and violent, probably with an Infernal Pact. However, we might be converting an existing 3.5 game into 4e, so my Transmuter who disdains the use of damaging spells suddenly becomes an ordinary artillery-style wizard :(.

What's really annoying about the whole "anti-gun, anti-soldier" attitude is that the Doctor does have a gun. The bullets it fires just kill a thousand people each shot, instead of one.

I'm not sure orcs need any fluff. I mean, they're orcs. Anyone who is playing D&D is going to be familiar with orcs. Moreover, the fluff actually seems to be built into the mechanics: they're the brutal savages who attack relentlessly. I'm sure the hobgoblins will have some kind of team attack...

Not necessarily. A friend of mine had this handheld gadget that was essentially the size of a ruler and could scan pages pretty quickly just by waving it across the page. No need to dismantle a book to get a good quality scan.

The point is that the power of a series of spells (much less an entire class!) shouldn't be dependent on how the DM interprets them to act, or how his monsters behave.
