Sneak attacks within an Obscuring Mist

I think you are getting caught up in the convention of the rules. The designation of combat rounds is arbitrary because it is based on a convention. Think of it this way. You could just as easily run an entire game in combat rounds (except for the absolutely arduous amount of time it would...

    Cleaving after an AoO

If you've ever watched Kenshin and seen the stunt Shishio pulls on Kenshin when Shishio's woman (sorry I forget the name) attempts to interrupt the fight between them, you know that cleave can work on an AoO.

Quickened Dimension Slide and Sneak Attack?

What is it with members of this board trying to hose rogues ;). Check out the S.A. in O.M. thread for more discussion on this topic if anyone's interested. I think a problem too many DM's suffer from is allowing the rules of the game to form a box around them, limiting them then just to what's...

    Cleaving after an AoO

I have a houserule that cleaving is possible with AoO but that each cleave attempt eats up another AoO. So unless you have CR, you are not getting any cleaves at all, and even with GC, you only get at most a handful of extras. This solves the bucket of snails problem (or bag of puppies for the...

Sneak attacks within an Obscuring Mist

I must humbly prostrate myself to your wisdom, but still (humbly) disagree. If you want to take the RAW precisely, I could be lawyerish and simply argue that the whole grapple procedure attack is initiated from 5' away. Sure, you move into the square and then make the touch attack, but the...

Sneak attacks within an Obscuring Mist

I would say yes, if he was able to make the attack with surprise. To be more clear, lets take your example. Combatant A is the one hiding. Combatant A has spiderclimbing. So he runs behind the column and then moves up it silently. Then while B moves around and doesn't find A, A drops on top...

Sneak attacks within an Obscuring Mist

I disagree. What you say would be true if the moving out was not part of the actual attack. When the rogue moves out of concealment, he is making his attack in the form of a grapple touch attack. Between the time he moves out and makes the attack, I presume you are suggesting is the time...

Sneak attacks within an Obscuring Mist

First off, sorry it took me so long to respond. Actually, I understood exactly what he meant the first time around. I forget that not everyone uses the facing rules from UA and that not everyone is as loose in their interpretations of awareness of an attacker. This is my take on flatfooted...

Sneak attacks within an Obscuring Mist

Good feat. Perfect for one of my player's PC's. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sneak attacks within an Obscuring Mist

I think it is fair to say that if you are grappling with an opponent that is not somehow otherwise concealed in a fashion (like with blur and what not) that you would eliminate the concealment from obscuring mist. Regardless, this is the way I would rule. Sorry, still hooked on 3.0 rules...

To Face or not to Face, that is the question

No you don't :). My campaigns are killer - ask any of my players.

To Face or not to Face, that is the question

I hate to be the naysayer, but I can't stand the current lack of facing rules. It is completely unrealistic. If you are completely surrounded, the people at your back should have a substantial benefit against you. Granted, the lack of facing rules is simpler - of that there is no question...

What're good PrCs for a Warmage?

The eldrich swordsman sounds like the perfect PrC for a character of mine. What book is it in?

Learning the rules what's the best way

Jesus! I thought I was a rules lawyer. Apparently not. I mean, who keeps track of the morphic traits on the Astral, or DC increase to climb checks when the surface is slippery - just look it up...phew. I was worried the third time I tried it that the question of what is a favored class was...

    Multiple Potion Drinking

There are already precedents for what you say and for drinking a potions. Check FRCS for the bandoleer (I believe) it allows the storage of some number of tiny items that can be drawn as a free action. Dragon came out with an article last year that had a bunch of innovative items, one being a...

Magic Item of Constant Protection from Evil

Holy Avengers You might look to the paladin's sword for a suggested price on the ability. Subtract the +5 holy part out and see what is left. Factor in the conditional bonuses, and come up with a final cost. Then divide by 3 to go from MCaE to PfE (and don't forget to multiply by the...
